Incest? in MY School?

Mkay, so about 3 months ago, two of my classmates started dating. I didnt pay too much attention, but I believe they got to the point of making out.

UNTIL....

One day the female of the couple had a Family tree project. Upon doing some research, she discovered that her boyfriend was in fact her cousin!

Needless to say, their relationship died pretty quickly and there was some severe awkwardness between them since.

I don't see how this could possibly happen. You don't do a "research" and then just discover that a person you know is a cousin of all things. It just doesn't happen.

Owned by family tree. But what I'm wondering is, in such a scenario how were they not aware that they were cousins? Did the parents not know that they had a relationship?

I actually knew a couple who went through something like this. They were only 2nd or 3rd cousins so it wasn't nearly as awkward, but needless to say they did stop seeing each other.

They might have been secound cousins

It wasnt easy to get much info out of them, plus, as it is spread by word of mouth, error appears, all I know is that I heard they were cousins via an indirect source.

2nd cousin MABYE, but cousins aren't people you can date without realizing it for quite a few reasons.

i know of a lad who lives in my town whose parents are cousins, he's not deformed or anything, but i shit you not, his actually name is tim bred... you can imagine the amount of times he gets picked on

Not as bad as the two people in the UK that were married and took a blood test to see if they could have a healty baby, and it turned out that they were twins, and seperated at birth.

I dont think their relationship died quickly, but I am sure the court seperated their marriage.

But then on a brighter side, kind of the same thing, but not, there was an artical once about these two woman that have been friends their whole lives, and they were like sisters. One of them does some family research and finds out that they were in fact sisters.
