Everything could be predetermined, but you could never know what's supposed to happen. So we have free will, at least from our point of view. It's kind of a self-defeating concept.

I don't believe in fate, therefore, I believe that we have the power to change our futures.

Every choice has a consequence which brings us to a new choice with new consequences and so on.

No matter what, the next thing you do will happen.

Well if you think that everything is predetermined then it is. Because in your mind you will be beliving that everything you do is pre planned no matter what you choose on doing. There isn't really any question here that can be answered correctly, although personaly I belive that everthing isn't pre planned, because who would be doing that, God? You don't think he has better things to do but plan out every waking moment of everyones life? If you belive that nothing is pre planned and things don't need to happen for a reason, life becomes much simpler. There is no need to fit any determined status and you can live how you want your life to go.

The basic way to look at it is everything has it's own fate, and has a shared fate also. There's the fate that eminates from the few square inxhes in our skulls, there's the fate of our genes, the fate of individual lifestyle basically.

Then there's combined fate, or shared fate. Community cumulative fate that generations of combined effort can lead to with goals and determination and such.

Some things act on the individual's fate level. Other things (calamity events) effect the group, and are mostly out of our hands. There's a complex interaction where our own fate tries to interact with the shared collective fate. And it's this that we dream or think or work towards the multitude of 'decision moments' in order to feel we will have any grip or control on our own fate, inside the overall shared fate.

That's my take on it.

Unless there are multiple dimensions which have different events occurring.

I believe that everything happens due to a predictable pattern it is all cause and effect you don't make any decisions the decisions were made before the problems came along however from an Individuals point of veiw results seem random so in our own minds their is free will
besides if everyone believed in fate then every jackass would have an excuss for being a jackass

But if it's predetermined, who predetermines it?
And are you sure that people don't decide everything for themselves??
