I have to read the Book of Genesis for AP English and I was just wondering if anyone knows if they still have the original version. Im reading the King James version but I have no idea if the original is still around. This might be a common known thing but im not sure cause I'm Jewish and I was never really interested in the Bible, Torah, and whatever other holy books there are. I've heard they've been revised so many times, I don't know any reason to voluntarily read any of them. So, is the old one still around? =]
The original is in Hebrew... and not even modern-day Hebrew. Biblical Hebrew has no notation for vowels. The earliest translation of that was probably in Greek. I'm assuming you read neither, so, no matter what you get, there will ALWAYS be subtilities that are lost in translation.
The closest English translation you could possibly get would probably be in a Chumash.
