As I posted in my previous post about how I was making a new design for my website well now I want to show off some of the coding we have done.
Thanks to my good friend Timon he has made an all PHP/Javascript/AJAX portal. It's still under development but we are looking for people to come test it out so if you want come join and submit.

Please change the colors. They hurt my poor, tired eyes :(
Line 188 character 2 seems to have an issue that's throwing out an error as being an invalid argument.
I don't like how when I click on a link in the portal that the window is so large that when you scroll it lags.
That's all I really have time to look at right now.

Why not make your own CMS instead of using phpBB? Or at the very least, change everything so it's not so reminiscent of phpBB... Designwise, it looks like you just modified some CSS and imagery. The little "tooltip" things look out of place. Change them around so they at least match the site a bit more. Also, for the inline popups, make the movie/picture open up in the same inline popup rather than spawning an external popup. Codewise, it's looking good, but the design still needs work.

Oh I forgot to mention that I was just meaning code wise, I'm not putting on my design till all the features are done on the portal so the design isn't close to what it's going to be in the end.
This is the design we will be using.

It's still very orange and yellow, two colours which (depending on what you're doing) aren't good when used on a large area. In this case it's like staring into the sun. Just play around with the colourscheme a little bit would be a lot better.
Look at NG for example, they use orange and yellow a lot but it's not overpowering at all.

The shades of orange don't look that bright on my screen so I don't see anything different about it unless I need to turn the brightness up on my monitor.

I think you need to because it's very bright on mine. Just tone it down temporarily while you're testing so that we don't go blind :P

Updated the website and it's about 80% done at the moment.

The design's gotten better, but there are still some problems. First off, the code is all messy. Put the scripts into separate files, as well as the CSS. Why are you using tables? The portal content listing could be very easily done with HTML lists and CSS. The "tooltips" still don't exactly go with the layout. Also, have you considered changing phpBB's default images? They really look out of place.

Cool, really? Because your eyes are only receivers, and do not process visuals, that's what your brain does. So, even if by some possible long shot a virtual space on the internet COULD burn any part of you, it wouldn't be your eyes.

I do use CSS and I use tables because there's nothing wrong with it. The portal design wasn't made by me so that's why it seems out of whack. I do plan on changing the default phpBB images though but it's not the top priority at the moment.
What do you mean by the portal content listing? You mean the lists on the portal index page?

my eyes are tired.
you need a design that's easy to scan over without much trouble (as in, too many distracting images and poor design (because of the way you placed the content))
it looks ok, but you should think about aesthetics first

Not exactly sure how to tone down the design now that my eyes have been used to it for so long haha.

I would just say to tone down the orange or change the background so that it's not as dark. Like go with a contrast color that's more neutral.

Changed the background color. How's it now?

bad contrast. the red makes it hard to focus on the orange
