I'll tell you so long as you swear never to use this info for the evil sake of photoshopping such a cliché meme, ever.

It's quite a simple process, but getting it right takes time. Isolate the face of a subject using the Eraser or Quick Selection tools, and give the face a bit of a "feathered" edge by erasing around the edges with a very low density setting (40-50% should do.) This will make juxtaposing the face onto another subject blend smoothly.

One you've resized/repositioned the cut-out face over a new one, it's a simple task of blending or replacing the skin tones to match with a combination of the Color Replace tool and the Burn/Dodge tools. Remember, the Burn/Dodge tools have three basic setting or "ranges" : Shadows, Midtones and Highlights, so experiment with each depending on the desired skin tone. The Color Replace tool will likely be your primary means of changing the skin tones, though. Take a good median sample color of the desired skin tone directly from the subject and see if the blends match. You can always fade the tool in the Edit menu, and lighten/darken highlight areas with the Dodge/Burn tools respectively. You can also fiddle with the color ranges by bringing up the Hue/Saturation menu with CTRL+U to get a better match.

Great competition this time 'round, guys. Good job by all, you each did so well in sticking to the theme I had to ask for some special help judging this one. Good lulz to be had all around.

Here's this competition's Top Shops. Congrats to:

Fellow photoshoppers of NG, I'd like to introduce to you the newest addition to the photoshop family,
BlackClown.

This guy has some phenomenal talent and has already made his mark with and excellently received photoshop thread which I encourage anyone to contribute to: Face Swap Photoshop.

Let's hope we see more of this up-and-comer in the future. I can already tell he may very well give us a run for our money, be sharp and on your game if you want to compete with him.

And speaking of competing, the next HQ photoshop competition will be announced very soon, so stay frosty. As always, if anyone has any suggestions for a new theme, feel free to drop it in the suggestion box.

Just been following a few tutorials recently, come out with a few pictures and sigs. Sig I personally liked the most I ended up using on NG but I'll probably change them every now and then. This picture is one I started for halloween but never got round to finishing. Did it after throwing a few things I've learnt through tuts over the time I've had Photoshop. I dunno if I'll ever get round to finishing it because I'm lazy but it doesn't look too bad as it is. Pumpkin still needs work obviously but I just wanted to contribute :3

Sorry about the double post but I realised there was a bit of white at the bottom of the picture =/ Sorry about that, as I was using smart filters I couldn't find a way to save it as a .jpg. Had to print screen it and import it into paint to save it as a .jpeg hehe. Sorry!

Damnit, my copy of photoshop has been on the fritz just now. Whenever I try and use the font tool it goes into "not responding" mode and I have to close it. It happened pretty much an hour or so after I installed this Doritos font, so I'm going to try and delete that. If worst comes to worst I'm just going to update to CS4, :).

I just got the whole CS4 set and I was able to finish this. I know the food contest is over but I figured I would make something while I wait for the next contest to be announced.

Sup.

I've turned Photoshop as "that thing I use to think", never focusing on projects, just screwing around.

I'm asking - how can I 'carve' things into stuff? Like say, my name in a bar of soap ala Fight Club? Do I just turn it into a blank canvas, type out my name into something carvable (like Impact), then add shadows etc. to make it seem in depth?

Or is there a better way?

I dunno about having something raised from the soap like on fight club, but if you wanted it to look carved i suppose you could use a drop shadow and set the colour to a shade darker than the object you want it carved on. Set the distance far away so you can flatten the layer and erase the text without altering the shadow..

Lol, I just got photoshop and have learned a little bit. Id like to post some of the bettr pieces. Ones I either real like or used techiques Id just learned.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa291 /Torque_user/MasterchiefAttackscopy.jpg
This one was as you can see, I tried to make my own shadow, which failedish I think. Couldnt use the shadow he had in the pic cause it went in the wrong direction.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa291 /Torque_user/Sunglasses.jpg
Done for my friend for his bday. He likes slayer lol (hence the bald dude). This is showed me how to edit hair xD If not masterfully, just enough to pass it off xD That and I had to get the hair to look natural for the helmet. The Anthrohorse was a layer paste and slayer dude taught me the values of clicking on close lined things with the mag lasso. He was a bitch to cut out.

The one I have posted showed me how to morpf colors of diffrent items and how to make windows. I like it personally xD Course I like all of these. I have others but they are either too simple to describe my progress, or suck xD

We ain't dead yet, Reno. Let's see if we can squeeze some life out of this bitch yet. and what better way to rejuvenate the old blood than by getting back to basics: a down-home good ol' fashioned photoshop competition.

That's right, it's that time again. Dust off your brains and get those creative juices flowing once more for the next installment of the NG Photoshop HQ Competition: Right Actor, Wrong Movie.

The theme here is to take a scene, screenshot or poster from any movie OR tv show and shoop in the actor/actress from that pic, only from a different time period in his/her career or as a different character.

Inspired from several different sources, there be much potential here. As always, creativity is a must and all entries will be judged on the basis of lulz first, then overall skill. Having fun is the name of the game.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Here's an example to set the standard for this round and illustrate the general spirit of the game.
I can't take credit for this one, but I wish I could. I'd like to thank my friend Steve at Worth1000 for providing it as well as most of the inspiration for this competition.
I'll be posting some of mine later.
Get crackin'.

I'd like to join this. I haven't used Photoshop in a while, so to try to refresh my skillz, I made iPods from scratch. I will admit that I Googled the Apple logo, but I colored it and blended it.
