Here we are at the first Photoshop Competition. This week's theme is Revolution.
You have to photoshop theme of revolution like a revolutionary portrait, historic picture, propaganda and the like. You have until August 30 to create your photoshop.
Let the games begin ;)

Been done, by me.

and it did rather well for a bit
I see that it went dead for a whole year and was only recently revived for only a short time. Thanks for the link to some info, but the purpose here is not just help and tutorials, we are here primarily to have fun posting shops that one would normally find in the many random threads in general without the usual riff raff showing up to post a spam meme and saying "it had to be done." Shitty MS Paint Bedns and cocks NEVER HAVE to be done!
Aside from that, we'd like a fresh start for some lulz rather than tacking onto an already established/failing thread where we could get lost in the mix. Thanks for continuing to contribute anyway. I see from you other thread that you've had plenty of practice time, so take the liberty to post shops and join in on the contests or just entertain the public at large.

Hi.
All I gotta say is, thanks THEJamoke for making this thread. I want to go into the area of graphic designing when I get older, and I don't know one bit heck of a thing about photoshop.
I can be one of those like, "watching members" where I'll just read everyone's experiences here with photoshop and all those other softwares.
I'm looking forward to learning with the best :)
I'm glad you came. I know you're a big fan of graphic design and photo manipulation, and I hope to see you around more.

Oh hey look I made lightning.. (sort of) .. not bad for the first day of using paint.net.
Any point outs on how i can make it look more realistic?
I'm not all that familiar with Paint.net, but I do have some experience with lightning effects in PS. With PS it's quite simple to adjust the image. In case there are any similarities between the two methods, or if anyone with Photoshop is also curious, I'll post what I know anyway.
- (In PS) go to Image > Adjustments > Levels (Ctrl + L) and play with the lighting to sharpen or blur the color tones of the lightning to the disired effect. This will make the white of the lightning stand out and make it more realistic.
- You can also Change the colors with Image > Adjustments > Color Balance (Ctrl + B)
or
- Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation (Ctrl + U)

I've tried to watch some of these tutorials but my program is kinda obsolete for them. I could easily search youtube for Photoshop CS2 tuts, but I figured since there's this trove of information, maybe someone out there will wonder as well: Does anyone here know of any CS2 tutorials that are worthwhile?
Has anyone else been helped by CS2 tutorials somewhere?
You should browse through HERE to see if there are any tutorials of use to you. They cover PS 5, 6, 7, CS2 & CS3.
I made this someone on NG when they were sad, by the time I got back with the shop the thread was closed. I was sad because this one actually turned out alright...
I remember that thread. It lived very briefly. What happened to it? Why did it get deleted? I never found out. I went to go shop the base, came back and blammo it was gone.

Hey everyone, thanks for inviting me!
You're welcome.
Finding these images was quite a hassle. I'm usually very picky when it comes to my choice of images.
Google Images, Yahoo! Images and Flicker are a photoshopper's best friend. You can find almost anything on one of those three. Spend some time every day just browsing through them for random pics that could be used as fodder for later projects. I keep a folder of pics with elements and scenery that I think may be useful later down the road for just such purposes.

Here is one I made, a knife in an iTouch. This is actually my first photoshop using photoshop. I gotta get familiar with photoshop even more.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but right around the hilt in the metal area where the blade meets the handle, it looks like you were using the magic eraser tool and it ate a little into the image. That appens a lot when working with grays and especially metallic objects. When that happens, use the art history brush to rebuild the lost parts. You can always go back with the undo function and touch-up things with the eraser to smooth edges. Other than that, not bad.
We all make mistakes and any artist will find it hard to get as close to perfection as they'd like. But still take your time anyhow. I have this habit of going back 3 or 4 times before posting a shop to glance over it again with the magnifier to catch little imperfections, but even so, it's hard to catch them all, especially late at night when you're tired.
