That's cool.
Personally I would use an eraser and set the hardness to some low number, then move it around the edges of the arm and the hat, then I would move hardness up again, and fix the leaf's edges on the left, and the pumpkin's side on the right. I also think I'd lower the contrast on the pumpkin and make it a little darker. Aswel as give the arms a little shading.

Instead of an eraser what I like to do is go to layer mask > revel all and use the paint brush tool and paint with black and white colors. That way you don't get rid of any information and if you don't like what you've done but did too many steps to go back, you can remove the layer mask instead of reloading the image.

I decided to go ahead and post this project thus far because it's turning out pretty great! This is one of the few things I've worked on that actually look better in the real world than in my head.

I still have about two hours left of work on it. The entire right side of her face needs to be detailed, as well as the nose and lips.

It's supposed to be blood spatter which has taken on the likeness of a girls face, but it looks decent in black as well as blood red, black in this case because red looks like shit on gray and you can't make it out on NG's gray BG and I wanted it all to look slick.

I haven't sat down to peruse the tutorials for CS4 yet, but i'm sure there are a few out there already. Just do a Google search, "photoshop CS4 tutorial." As for brushes, I've posted several links to great download sites in here before:

'k guys, time for this weeks Photoshop HQ Competition. This week's theme come courtesy of my good buddy Porkchop, so if you don't like it take your gripes up with him.

NG Photoshop HQ Competition: Mystery Science Theater 3000

Anyone who is familiar with the classic show which shares the same name as this week's theme may already have an idea of what to expect. If you are not familiar with the show, then I pity you and the empty life you've lead up to this point.

MST3k

The idea here is to photoshop a scene from a movie, but not just any movie, a horrible, awful, wretched movie that you would rather get kicked in the dick before paying good money to go see. Make up a movie, something with a terrible plot and even worse title, and try to stick in some actor/actress/random celebrity who would just plain suck out loud as the lead role. Try to make it campy as all fuck, let's really make these movies craptacular.

The Big Dirty: once you've got your movie scene looking like shit on celluloid, throw in the silhouette of the MST3K cast sitting in the foreground berating your p.o.s. flick in classic style. The idea here is extra lulz, so come up with some zingers to fling at the show. You know you love making snide quips during a movie, so now it's time to put your money where your popcorn hole is and show us what you got.

I never really watched it either, though I know youtube will enlighten me. Just got photoshop cs3 AND cs4 onto this new macbook, so I guess I should give the contest a spin.

See, I was prepared for this, that's why I linked to a site where you can watch some classic moments from MST3k in the very first post so anybody not very familiar with the show can get up to speed.

As previously stated, you really don't even need to know the show to participate. All you have to do is stick the pre-made silhouettes infront of a randomly thrown together pic and type out some humor. I know that the element of "funny" is a lost commodity on the BBS these days, but I had hoped maybe, just maybe, we could still squeeze the last few drops of blood from that stone.

It's not as much confusion of the subject as it is interest in Mystery Science Theater 3000. While I could go and do a shoop, i'd love to see what has been done in the past for inspiration, especially since i've never come across the style before. Thanks for the links Jamoke

Haha really? Well I'm not familiar with the show and even after watching a few episodes it was hard to understand what was going on. So I was feeling slightly confused about the competition.
