Adobe Flash is what is used by 99.99% of Newgrounds. You can get it at that link, it does cost $700. No, it's not cheap. Here's what you can do if you don't have the money:
1. Get a job
2. Make money, by getting said job

NOTE: You can also get the student version, but you cannot legally make money from it. You could also get earlier version of Flash such as Macromedia Flash 8 from eBay. That will be a lot cheaper.

NOTE 2: Macromedia used to make Flash, now all Flash products are by Adobe.

No, we're not being smartasses. If you want to make Flash movies/games you will have to get Flash. Yes, there is a free "flash making program" (If you can call it that...), called LiveSwif. It doesn't even compare to Flash it's so horrible. But, alas, you get what you pay for.

Like only 25% Of all newgrounders use Adobe

You also wont like to have about 400MB Of space taken up by a program that does everything macromedia does! The only good thing about CS3 Is that it supports actionscript 3 But People havent even mastered actionscript 2!!!!

personally, i believe Macromedia 8 is pathetic compared to CS3
i never liked macromedia 8. altho similarities are stunning, i think CS3 has LOADS of extra options, as well as easier compatibility with other programs.

first time i saw CS3 was at a friends house.
that mother fucker hooked my phone up and downloaded a new theme onto it.
i have CS3 and i have no idea how to do that... but the NON flash options are incredible.
should you wish to expand, and grow in Art, I PERSONALLY suggest Adobe CS3, but thats alot of $$$. :(

I also wish to join the productive flash society, and i don't have any software to do so. However i only wish to do work with sprites (cause we need more mario videos) so i was cerious if there was a crappy, free animation software that would do the job for that.
