"Peacekeepers"? Lol. After fueling the separatists under the table, riling the situation to a point where "peacekeepers" were needed? They were using the situation as an excuse to place troops there... as such Georgia's actions were justified. Now, I'm not going to say that everything Georgia has done is all gummy bears and roses, but talking like they're the only aggressor is naive.
They foolishly attacked a russian barracks. Are you suggesting that north korea killing american soldiers in south korea wouldn't be considered an attack on the USA? Yes or no, please.
"Considered"? Sure. But if you remove all of the variables from the situation, yeah it seems simple, but you're missing a large portion of the picture. As such, no conclusion you come to using so few variables can be trusted.
Widen your scope, see the whole board, quit trying to distil the situation past where you should. There's more going on here than just attacks on russian soldiers.
Also, Afghanistan didn't attack the USA, so your argument makes no sense.
No, they just funded, trained, housed, and supported the people who did... hmmmmm.
Tis better to sit in silence and be presumed a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Interesting to see that unlike last time, this new Cold War won't be based around ideology so much.

I'd like to see some proof Russia was actually supplying the sepratist factions in South Ossetia. Otherwhise I'm calling BS. Even if the Russians were secretly supplying the sepratists, without proof Georgia wasn't justified in attacking there barracks. If a Middle Eastern terrorist group attacked a US military base and killed US soldiers, then said the US was going against word of God as their justification, would you side with the terrorists? It's exactly the same thing. Georgia attacked a Russian barracks, then used a claim they have no proof of as justification.

Yah, there's the bombing of hospitals and civilians areas too, aswell as the killing of Russian citizens in South Ossetia.

How is this relevent to the current Russia-Georgia conflict?

Ya, I think so. Still, he killed hundreds of South Ossetians, the International Red Cross confirmed that. I can't remember how many, but it was a lot.

I think you added an extra 0. It's 1,600, not 16,000 last time I checked.

It's not possible. Russia learned their lesson when they boycotted the UN during the korean civil war, and the USA pushed a resolution through giving the West the right to intervene in that war.
That was China that boycotted their seat buddy.

Finally Russia woke up. NATO is essentially USA imperialism. USA does not respect any nation, USA invades Iraq, Afghanistan, and in the past, countless more, like Panama and the Falklands. USA invaded Yugoslavia and allowed Kosovo to become independent (Kosovo is an illegal state, at least I see it as such).
USA also keeps a bloody embargo on Cuba, threatens Venezuela on a daily basis, ban people from the world trade organization, supports Israel unconditionally, and so on. What did Russia do? It only defended itself from the idiotic and stupid Georgians.
Thanks God that Obama will put an end to the feeling that the USA needs to put its nose everywhere.
I'm with Russia.

To all people who think it's Russia's fault you're wrong. If you read some history you'll realize south Osettians isn't part of Georgia, they are independent. If you look they even have a different alphabet different language. Now the reasons Russia comes in is because most of the people in South Ossetia speak Russian and have Russian passports. And now if you believe that it's all Russia's fault then my question is, only about 2000 people ran to Georgia but waaaay more ran to Russia last time I checked. Georgia need Sout Ossetia to become part of NATO it's obvious. The reason all our newspapers write that Russia is bad is because it's comfortable for them. It's easier for Europe just not to look that way. And with England being America's allies and stuff and all of the others stuck in their nice happy European Union it's just easier for them to look the other way...
