The majority of Texas stereotypes, or just southern stereotypes are completely false. Fat, poor, and stupidity do not exist in the majority of Texas. Texas is a very wealthy state, and the main cities inside of Texas are very high class in most areas.

Sandra Bullock used to have a house near my house. I do not see why people who do not live in Texas often speak negatively to Texas. There are red necks in Texas, however, that just depends where you live. If you live in a small place in the middle of no where, you will most likely find red necks. However, the cities, the majority of people that populate said cities are not rednecks.

Also, Schlitterbahn, the greatest water park in the world started in Texas, and used to only be in Texas. They finally decided to create a location in Kansas, however. Six Flags also started in Texas. Six Flags Over Texas was the first Six Flags. Anyway, I'm just attempting to prove a point that some of the stereotypes that exist are terribly incorrect.

he's right guys. the past 100 years of southern history are irrelevant. Texans are not hicks because of Sandra Bullock and water slides. why didn't i see it before?

Actually for a while, houston was the #1 fattest city in the world.

And I have to live there.

But in all seriousness, I think Texas sucks. Not because we're all rednecks, not because of the people in general. The weather fucking sucks here, man. And six flags wasn't all that great.

Maybe some oil wealth made some of texas' cities big and nice, but my friend went to dallas and said it really sucked. He was there for a whole week. Apparently its a quite empty city (we're used to ny and all but still)

As for the rest of the south, fat isn't always true, but dumb? Yes, because of crappy public schools ( except for a few pockets.)

My only experience of Texas folk is some ADHD Linkin Park loving wanktard who came to Australia for reasons unknown. Not stereotypical, but still an obnoxious prick.
