Allowing the teachers to have guns puts them on a level playing field with shooter. Instead of shooting fish in a barrel, the would-be massacring psycho is likely going to get shot himself pretty quickly.

You watch too many movies. It's not very easy for people who are unarmed to neutralize someone with a gun. It happens, but it's not going to happen very often.

The thing about school shootings is that the shooter always has plenty of time to meticulously go around and cap people at his leisure. School cops are too few to really do anything, and it takes minutes for police to get there, and more often than not the police just hide outside. The best way to stop the attack is to first deter the attacker by making it public knowledge that teachers are packing, and second, have the teachers armed so that they can quickly stop the attacker before you get a long, drawn-out killing spree like you see in most school shootings.

I think it's a good idea. Granted the teachers should go through training, and be thoroughly screened to make sure they don't have serious anger problems.

I can picture a whole bunch of teachers in my school (a lot of who aren't even qualified) being careless and leaving their gun on their desk while going to the bathroom. So that's a pretty sucky idea to let teachers carry guns to school.

I'm in texas and god I can see so many people getting shot now.

I don't see the problem with it. It discourages the could-be zerker and adds some safe points in case of a shooting in other classrooms.

I see the probability of a teacher neglecting it very bleak, since they develop some sort of bond with their pupils. They would have to be very fucked up in the head.

I think the idea is good if not great.

thats probally one of the best ways to approach it but even that has a fatal flaw
unless it was kept annomymous of what teachers had guns from all the students. some nut job student could shoot up the classes that didnt have a teacher with a gun

Depends how powerfull the tazer is. It might just paralyze their face for a while. However, If it hit them in the temple, Their brain would be fried.

Anyway, I think this is a good idea. They should obviously take precautions though. Don't ever take it off your person, do an EXTENSIVE background report on the teachers, Ect. Ect. Ect. It could really stop school shootings before they escalated. dsfsa

Just bring back the cane
smack the kids when they're young so they're no disobedient in later years, too many kids in england give cheek to teachers, throw chairs, threaten them and generally dis empower them so they need stuff to give authority back, a low power tazer would be a good idea just to put them in their place, as for gun incidents, they're not really gonna be avoided, they need to be prevented first hand, maybe metal detectors at the entrances but then they'll just find ways to sneak them in.
Reporting on them is what gives the other kids the idea to do it, I think, should just stop reporting it!
