I've just started, so I'm entirely new. As far as I can tell, I've got it assembles right, but when I blow only the sound of air is present.
It might be the reed, so which way it supposed to face? How much of the mouth piece should it cover?
Any Ideas why it won't play?

The flat part of the reed should face inward, and you should be able to see a thin line of plastic mouthpiece at the top, just above the reed.
Also, make sure your ligature (the clamp thing) is tightened properly Not too tight, not too loose. You want it snugly holding down the reed.

Well, I know that when I started the flute, I couldn't get a sound out for a while. So maybe you should just work on it, you'll get a sound out at some point.

Make sure your embouchure is good. If your dont have it in your mouth correctly or if your not blowing hard enough, it wont make a sound.
Making a sound on a clarinet is similar to the saxophone, i believe you have to blow a little harder on the clarinet though. So dont hold back.
