I started this topic to show the people my art, and to see what they think about it!
It's mostly character designs for a few stories I've been developing, but if anyone has any suggestions or comments to post, please feel free to do so. That's why I started the topic!
I hope you like it.

Here we go first picture after shrinking it a bit! LOL
Meet Kenneth and Martha (working on names that don't suck)
Two characters I plan on featuring in an Action-Horror story I'm developing.
It took about 2 and a half hours to finish (listened to three albums in a row in the process!)
My pencil got dull once I started shading and I was too damn lazy to sharpen it since the sharpener's located in the basement! :P
Other than that it turned out pretty well. Hope you like it!

Pic #2!
This is Tyler of a story I started developing about a month ago. He's 22.
This took about 45 minutes to 1 hour to draw and once again my pencil got dull while shading it!
Story's called The Endurance and it's an Action/Drama if that genre even exists.
My profile has a news post with this guy on it but it was an early work in progress. This one's got shorter bangs!
I was impressed with this one because I don't do much up-close manga profiles so I like it. I hope you guys do too.

Here's a story I've been working on since I was 13. (I'm 18 now!)
It's called Burning Darkness and it's a Sci-Fi/Fantasy twist genre with three main characters.
I know there's only two protagonists on the picture (Matthew - Metal arm, Joshua - Sword) The antagonist is to the left and his name is Bradley (LOL!!!)
The third protagonist is Christopher but I'll show you him later! :P It's a shame there was no room for him to do anything special on this pic. Probably why I'm not totally satisfied with it.
This took me a couple hours to make but I was watching a movie while doing this so maybe it distracted me a bit! XD
Enjoy!

I thought the eyes were a bit big when I was done, but I guess I liked it that way, IDK.
Thanks for that though maybe I SHOULD consider making them smaller.

Very nice, very nice. EXCELLENT shading on all of them. Shading's something I've always sucked at, but you've got it down perfectly. I did notice a couple of minor problems however...
One, the eyes are a little too close together. The characters look a little like Sonic the Hedgehog, which really doesn't do them justice. Keep em about an eye's width apart. Also, the hair is really angular in a couple of them; it looks more like pieces of metal than hair. Of course it's the same way in Yu-Gi-Oh, but unless that's the look you're going for, soften up the hair a little. Otherwise, really nice job.

your character's are too geometrically sound. Study up anatomy more.

Just to let you know, the characters don't have to have big eyes to be considered manga. Please make them smaller

BTW Here's another pic!
This one's simpler than the others; it took about half an hour to draw.
Enjoy..!

Each picture has its ups and downs, you do some things well in some pictures, but not in others. For example, the angles on the guy holding the sword in one of the images is really good, and the guys hand in the first picture is quite good too, but in others, the hands arn't nearly as great.

Keep at it nonetheless!

Not too Keen on your anatomy but your shading is pretty good! don't run in fear fo the word anatomy just keep practising!

Also don't sacrifice a friend to appease the ANATOMY GOD cause that hasn't done anything for my work and i lost a friend.

fix the eyes, and if you want a little suggestion, try drawing the face without the stuff on the front and putting them in AFTER... you'll see it'll be easyer to get the face's anatomy right. which by the way you need practice on.

and look at some anatomy books and practice practice practice, cause the dude you did in 30 minutes has shitlong arms and a groin in his bellybutton :3

although you're doing quite well, i suggest you try and avoid sticking to anime... it kind of limits your capacities, try to draw from life and as realisticly as you can, you'll find that having a good knowledge on proportions, anatomy, foreshortening and perspective will exponentially improve anything you do.

er hem........ Realistic drawing is a step before anime. You have to have a basic understanding of realistic anatomy and proportion to even be alittle good at anime. SO........... he should be doing what you said and then choose which he likes better. ( Anime does NOT limit anyone. It's a style, not a demoting level of drawing )

there are no steps before anything. anime isn't an evolution, and neither is realism.
and i never said anime is a demoting level of drawing. All i said is that if you want to get better you cant saturate your skills on one single limited way of drawing.

exapand you're horizons, learn more, and you get better.

good points..... different ways of drawing do increase skills. And truly, yes , there are no steps before anything ( I was just saying realistic drawing knowlage is needed in order to be good at anime and manga. )

I mis-understood, alot of " critic's put down anime and manga and say it's a demeaning art style.

sorry for jumping to conclusions......

I agree 100%. I just love anime too much to try something else! :D
Don't get me wrong I have done some other styles and types of art, but 99% of the stuff in my sketchbook and random pieces of paper is manga/anime! I want to publish a manga before I die so...LOL
BTW TomAzza: I DID draw the eyes and stuff BEFORE drawing the hair up front. I think I bolded the hair first though... :P
Thanks for the comments you guys.

Maybe... as soon as those things you see listed in the bottom left of the page are resolved! I will try to colour it as best as i can!
