Okay, listen. I'm not going to fucking ask if you think that the world will end in 2011, and I won't tell you to look at or whatever. And I'm am not going to needlessly rant on about how we are all doomed.
I am going to tell you the exact reason why I think that the world will NOT end in 2012.
Okay, just consider this. Maybe, just MAYBE the end of the Mayan Calender meant the end of the world for the Mayans. But think about this, what was "The World" to the Mayans? They've never explored the rest of the world why they were around, they didn't know about different colonies or Nations. How would they know the outcome of the entire Earth, when their world was confined to their little kingdom? Maybe the just were trying to depict the fall of their society, being that no one would intturupt them, which yes other cultures did.
Maybe they thought that their crops would die out, or that a terrible weather event would occur. Or MAYBE they just didn't continue the FUCKING CALENDER! Maybe their next calender didn't have time to come out. But either way, how the hell could they predict the outcome of the world, if they didn't even know what the whole thing looked like? Maybe they forsaw an asteroid that would demolish, their LITTLE part of the WORLD.
Seriously, did they just assume that the world was round, and that Asia and Europe and Alaska existed?! HMMM??!!!

I see it like the Y2K problem. The Mayans only made their claendar to a certain date, like we dated things with a 2 digit year, with the intention of fixing it later. The end.

As a matter of fact, it's not as simple as the Mayans not continuing their calendar past a certain point. Their calendar counts down, and reaches zero in 2012. However, as I understand it (and I might be wrong), the Mayan calendar runs in cycles. December 21, 2012 is the end of one of the larger cycles. Some people interpret this date as being the "end of the world" while others see it as being the end of an age. Unfortunately, we'll never know for sure because so much knowledge was lost.

Exit Mundi's page on the subject is an interesting read.
Okay, but it still doesn't explain what "Their World" was. Think about it, the Mayans only lived in one area, one small location on the Earth. How can they predict the end of something that they didn't even knew existed?!

Mayan calender builder 1:"Aw man, we ran out of materials to build our calender."
Mayan calender builder 2:"Hey, no problem, i'm sure no one will jump to conclusions on it."

Yah, those Mayans' world ended waaaay before 2012. It ended the day those blood thirsty Spaniards set foot in South America.

Yeah, it was quite ironic how the Mayans' treated the ones who would cause their demise like gods.
Wait a second, my cousin is a Spaniard! (Time to die, STEVE!)

There won't be an asteroid to even come close to Earth in the next 20 years. Not even in the next 50 or 100 years.
Second, we won't "blow ourselves up" because it just doesn't work that way.
Third, if none of the things I stated above this sentence is going to happen, the world can't possibly end.
Also, the "world" as in the planet, cannot be destroyed.

Most people misinterpret the Mayans...their calander stopped recording on that day because a tragic event would happen, just because a tragic event happens does not mean the end of the world, and plus, its like the bible, its just a fucking historic no-proof listing that could or could not be true.
