How much power do BBS mods have?

What sort of things can they actually do, other than banning people and deleting and locking threads?

Can they override another mod's judgment and unlock threads?
How hefty a ban can they enforce? Can they ban a user from the BBS for life, or does that have to be done by admin?
And can they take a user's ban away?

And other than that, what else can they do...

Yes, I believe moderators have the ability to lock and unlock topics, I've seen some that have been reopend in the past. Not too sure on the full extent of this.

I heard the maximum a moderator can ban for is 30 days so I'm guessing that's the maximum they can ban for.

Only an admin can ban a user from the BBS for longer than 30 days I think, though a moderator can keep adding 30 days to someones ban. But I think if anyone has done something that needs a perma ban from the forum, they are more likly to be deleted.

And can they take a user's ban away?

Yes, they can remove bans too I think, though I can't see much reason for them to remove a ban usually.

And other than that, what else can they do...

Not too sure what else they can do, they might be able to remove signatures from a user if they have an abusive signature. They also don't have a limit to 4 posts per topic in a set amount of time like normal users.

I always thought that they couldn't override each other's decisions about bans and locks - it was down to the mod who banned or locked to undo it themselves, or in the case of a ban, allow it to expire over time.

30 Days is the upper limit of a forum ban, with extreme cases suffering from the wrath of the Admins, which on occasion has led to account deletion.

If you didn't know that then you might get a good kick out of this thread here that was made on general asking about the time limit of posting. They even deleted my post that said, "I know predict that the mods will show off their power of being able to post more then 4 times in 30 minutes". They must of saw that, got the idea of actually doing it, and deleted it so it looked like it was their idea.

Not sure what it is with bans but I think that they can unlock a topic locked by another modertor, it's hard to say really, a moderator could answer that better, lol.

Here you can review the limit size. Guidelines are basicly:
-No animated sigs allowed
-No porn allowed (although nudity is)
-No racist stuff allowed
-No lawbreaking stuff allowed
