Just got them on earlier today. Luckily, they don't hurt yet, they just feel awkward.
I only got them on my top teeth for now, I look ridiculous :((((
Braces aren't so bad. Sure they can get annoying sometimes and often your teeth will hurt after an appointment, but overall (depending on your bite), they're worth it.
I got mine last year and will be getting them off in two years. I have to admit, I don't much like the idea of having braces at 21, but if I didn't go through with it, my bite would give me pain and discomfort in the future (plus, my teeth will look MUCH nicer).
The reason I have my braces so late is that I had to wait for my lower jaw to grow out before I could begin. Apparently, 1 in 500 people have the same bone structure as me (poor folks), and in total, I need three procedures (two operations) to fix it:
One of them involves breaking my palate in two and rearranging it to make it wider, the other involves breaking my upper and lower jaws and moving the top one forward and the bottom one back. After that, I'll have my mouth wired shut for about two weeks. As well as those, I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled, which I did just before getting my braces. The cost of all this is mighty hefty, too.
So you see, braces do suck, but at least you don't have as intense a ride to look forward to as I do :)
