I think between 24 and 30 is OK ;)
Depends how much work you're willing to put in...12 works, but can be quite choppy, whereas 24 seems the norm..i'd stick at that tbh...
for games to look good i prefer about 50. movies i think 35 is good
I ahve it at 50 fps and it still looks choppy

adobe says 12 but tv is 24 or 29.98, for less lag 12 is a sure thing, but 24 or above will look better.
in future note flash10 player has up to 3times playback performance so alittle lag now is nothing to worry about.

ok i watched it, but what lag?, if you mean choppy it's amatter of the animators effort, and in all fairness it was 5 seconds long.
if you need animation advise for frame by frame use the union skins.

well I'm obviously not done yet but I wanna get rid of the way the missile looks like crap when it first launches should I move it farther per frame?

That's nothing to do with the frame rate - it's more because your frames don't naturally lead into one another. You just need to look more carefully at how things move and try to emulate that. Maybe find a flash animation you love - maybe something by Adam Phillips or something slick on DVD - and go forward FBF. See how each of their frames is a new drawing, leading into the next?
I think that for your level, you should maybe just start making stuff at 12FPS. At the minute, your technique is more of a limitation than the framerate and animating at 24FPS is probably wasted effort - just now, I'd suggest practise and experience-gathering.
I think Bitey is often animated at 12FPS and movies are at 24FPS.

For some strange reason the default is 12fps, which is very choppy in my opinion. People usually doubke that and use 24fps. Nowadays though, people are more prone to 30 fps as their preferred frame rate. I use 24fps if there's a decent amount of fbf animation in there, if my movie is just tweens then I'll use 30fps or much higher.

The choppyness there has nothing to do with the FPS, you just didn't animate it very well. In anycase 50 fps is WAY to high try 24.
Test for echo
For sticks is 16 fps good, an awesome stick movie is 24.
A normal movie should be 24/30.
A game should be 30>
Those are the good frame rates.
12 = the least you should do
24 = professional
so anywhere between 12 and 24 is a good choice, I would say 18 is optimal for the flash artist
I really wouldnt go above 24 with flash ,(for fbf movies) it will just create lag and the frames will skip anyways....

thanks! i got that doubt by sometime xP and now i know that 18 fps is a good Choice xD ty :P
Why would anyone even bother mentioning 18fps ?
24 fps is standard for animation and thats that, read all about it in the animators survival kit.
Games are more variable but when it comes to flash 30fps dominates and 60 is used 2nd most for physics simulations etc though technically speaking you'd expect people to use 36 and 48 framerates that isn't the case
but seriously 18 ? lol
