God (In Whom I Don't Believe) bless John Edwards. I have great respect for his service to the American people.
I don't really care what he does in his private life. If he wants to screw around, fine. I don't agree with it, obviously, but it's ultimately between him and Elizabeth.
However, he chose to be a presidential candidate, fully knowing he had Republican demons permeating his mind. Causing him to cheat on a wife with cancer, and then running for the Democratic nomination with that fact tucked away waiting to break out as an October surprise. Not only is that an incredibly selfish act, but he could have single-handedly given us another 8 years of Republican rule if he won the primaries.
Low and Behold... Another man taken down by his traitorous Cheney.
The man still deserves our deepest sympathies.
Edwards is very special and has enough to deal with right now. We must emphasize that his wife's cancer was in remission at the time of the affair.

I agree, the media really needs to stay out of peoples personal lifes.

I was hoping it would be the one who claims to communicate with the dead, that would've been something.

That would be 'John Edward' -- without the "s"-- who claims to commune with the dead.

Celebrity Deathmatch: Nostradamus foresees his loss to Edward and refuses to appear for the fight, so Miss Cleo takes his place and wins.
Why did I miss this episode?

Yeah because the fact that a man can't stay faithful to his wife (his dieing wife mind you) is absolutely no indicator of how he may act as President. I don't trust all my politicians, but I trust John Edwards a lot rest then the rest of them, the guy is a scumbag.

I don't really get into this stuff, because I do believe in personal lives even for the famous. But what makes me so disgusted is:
1) His wife is dying of cancer, and she is spending her time trying to tell her kids not to cry for her when she dies, while this guy is out cheating with a hooker-looking lady.
2) Edwards was a strictly against Clinton during the Lewinsky affair. Edwards called Clinton a disgrace for cheating on his wife. What a fucking hypocrite.

I think it's funny how politicians never cheat on their wives with hot babes, instead it's usually chicks that actually look worse than their wives. It's like they have prince charles syndrome or something.

I'm sick and tired of all of these stories that make it onto the MSM that have absolutely NOTHING to do with a person's ability to perform his job duties. This whole Edwards cheating issue is, or should I say, should have been a private concern, not a public one. And given that Edwards came clean to his wife and she's forgiven him and they're still together should be enough to settle this issue once and for all.
You may now say that having cheated on ones wife constitutes a major character flaw, signaling that he is somehow morally defective to his core. However, you need to consider that this is a character flaw shared by approximately 2 in 5 americans (probably even more) who have at one point cheated on their spouse. Declaring a moral superiority with such numbers smacks of throwing stones in glass houses.

Hate to say it, but stories like these DO tell you how a person is going to do his job. Edwards covered up a major scandel in his personal life for the sake of politics, so it IS highly likely that if president he would cover up similar scandels as well. Private life and Public service ARE tied together, because it is the same person doing both of them. What he does in one can tell us what he'll do in the other.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
He had every right to "cover up" this affair, as it is a personal matter of no importance to anyone but him and his family, and I find it indescribably sad that you believe the personal lives of your elected officials is any of your business. Fucking around is not illegal.
This whole thing is only a "scandal", as you put it, because the media made it into a big spectacle. Take a good look around you the next time you're in public. 41% of all the people you see have or will at one point cheat on his/her spouse.
If it's not illegal and it only concerns you, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK, not even if you're the President of the United States. In my oppinon, Bill Clinton could have had as many oval office blowjobs as he wanted for all I care, as long as it didn't affect his job performance.
THIS JUST IN: Barack Obama leaves toilet seat up! John McCain uses naughty word! Brittney Spears shaves head! SCANDALOUS!

hate to tell you but once you are in the public eye, no you have no private life... you may not think so but i dare you walk into the spotlight and cheat on your significant other. if you are to devote your to political work, keep yourself clean... or do a better job covering up.
And yes the more stable your personal life is the better your chances in the business world are.

No shit.
I'm not talking about how it is. I'm talking about how it should be. The personal lives of people should have little to no effect on deciding who gets elected to public office. And I'm not just talking about the bad stuff like cheating on your wife or banging a call girl (or both), I'm talking about all the "good" stuff as well. I don't care if you're the best daddy in the world for your kids or if you donate blood during what little time you can spare between walking old ladies across the street and healing cancer victims with your bare hands. All I care about is your ability to make rational and well thought out plans regarding public policy.
Too many voters base their decisions on bullshit non-issues.

This confuses me a bit. Are you saying that you don't care about politicians having affairs as long as they cover them up? If a tree falls in the forest and no one's there to hear it, does it still make a sound? Makes you wonder how many of your current elected officials have had affairs that just haven't been exposed yet.
I wonder if the numbers of cheaters in congress is higher or lower than the national average. My math tells me there should be somewhere around 219 cheaters in congress out of 535. Scary figure if you believe cheating has an impact on your ability to make political decisions.
And yes the more stable your personal life is the better your chances in the business world are.
That's funny. You make an assertion without providing any followup to back it up. Are you sure you're not just talking out of your ass? It seems like it.
And business? Are you sure you didn't mean politics? Or is politics the same as business to you? That would be sad.
