No, you guys are right; normalcy is for the weak and mundane. I just thought it was funny we got in such a tiff over it.

Lol well, it does get annoying, people expecting you to be "normal".

Hey, I have autism, and it's hard for me to talk to strangers. So I have a hard time making friends, especially women, I have a really difficult time even getting near them. I'm just afraid to hear what they would think of me. Don't know why I would always think about that, when I'm about to talk to them. But anyways, I didn't think there would be an actual Autism Club on Newgrounds. Maybe I can join here, and make some friends, and chat on here when I'm not watching flashes, or playing any games.

It's strange to see how people react to the word 'normal'.

Normal just means the majority of people. There are more people without autism and then people that do have it, so therefore, by definition, not having autism is normal. Likewise, autism is abnormal. This doesn't mean it's bad, nor does it imply anything negative.

Being left-handed is also an abnormality, though (arguably) not negative.
Being homosexual is also abnormal, it doesn't mean it's wrong.

I just wish people would stop connecting their own insecurities to words that do not have such a meaning. I might be talking to a brick wall, and this probably does not apply to all of you, but it had to be said.

Yes, I'm back. ReMeMBer me?

Yes, we are. Freaks and proud of it.

Nice to hear from you, Fautz. My fears are now allayed.

(So how do you get that username change? It's been on my low-priority to-do list.)

Oh and sorry for the no-reply, BUT I ASKED THE MIGHTY TOM FULP HIMSELF.

He'll get back to you in like 2 days or so when you ask.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's at 14 after a long battle with developmental differences and discipline struggles. (I still have marks from some of them.)
My mom claims it runs in the family, though I think mercury and/or aluminum (or even thalidomide, in some cases) were contributing factors.

So if it isn't bad, how comes we still get people intimidating/bullying/attacking people with physical or learning disabilities?

Simple; some people will look for any excuse to be an ass.

Or they're trying to create the illusion of their own superiority by attacking nonthreatening people. Either way, it's about them, not us.

It's a rather nice Belgian movie about a guy with autism. A recommendation to watch.

I watched that movie! It's really sad...why does someone have to get hurt or die before they are helped? T-T
Personally, I haven't been diagnosed with autism (by a professional), but I have next to all symptoms of autism...I find it hard to make new friends, and I get really nervous and sometimes scared when around people who I don't know. I tend to stay at home instead of going to the carnival or movie. All in all, I find it really hard to communicate with people of my age...I am however, very good at communicating with children (which is why I want to be a teacher in primary school later). Maybe because children don't judge me. I'm hella afraid of rejection, that's one of the reasons why I'll never ever start a conversation with people I don't know very good. That being said, internet tests (and read this INTERNET tests) always diagnose me as an aspie who lies very high on the autism spectrum. Mom told me I might have some form of autism. But until I'm absolutely sure, I'll just post in this group. :)

Since we're on the subject of autistic related movies, anyone seen Mozart & The Whale? I saw up to a point where the aspie guy was arguing with the aspie woman about cleaning his apartment up. Up to that point I overall thought "Hmm...".

Never seen it.
What kind of "hmm..." are you thinking about?

Then again, he could have had something else, such as Down's...

Yeah, funny thing...the guy who suggested it ended up having more important goings-on in the real world and didn't keep pushing for it.
