It's good to see people forget and let bygons be bygons so we can just go on with the olympics, yay :)
Looks like the Olympic games are finally just that - just games. Sponsors can't make any money of ideals now can they?
I feel sorry for every athleet who has and/or will get cought up in any controversy when all they wanted to do was perform.
I heard they counted down the last day ot the opening of the games at Tiananmen square, so I made a lil tribute. Hope you enjoy the games! I know a bunch of students from 1989 won't ;)
Think those buddhist monks that got beaten the shit out of in the protests some time back will watch them?
I'm a tad dislexic, don't hate me.

Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:
-The compliant mainstream media for their pro-Obama propaganda.
-Black Panthers for their intimidation of voters.

Well, not exactly.
Did you se the U.S. bikers wearing masks the other day? They came out later after they were getting some serious heat for a silent protest and said that they apologize.
I don't think they should. In my opinion, they were protesting China. They just didn't expect such a crazy reaction to it. So they wiggled their way out.

Fuck the U.S. bikers! The Olympic comitee seemed to have fucking forgot what a cockass attitude China has toward human rights.

The best part of not receiving any T.V. reception, is I don't have to put up with the B.S. that is the ultimate waste of time, watching the olympics.
I'd rather watch rich men play golf, or an even better use of my time watching paint dry !

Now now, China has come a long way since then. They now know to get rid of opposition by quietly taking away in the night like any good oppressive government. And also these Olympics mean they can use the great excuse of "terrorism threatening the games" to silence the people who would be rude enough to dare piss on their parade.
And since the cameras probably won't be able to see through the pollutive smog, I don't think the world will have to worry about "seeing" any nasty protests or beatings.
GO BEIJING!! SPREAD THE HYPOCR- sorry LOVE!!!!

...I think we did allow nazi Germany host the olympics?
True it was before the holocaust.
And a black guy won ^^

Jesse Owens 1936 wins four Gold Medals... He was considered (all blacks actually) to be sub human.
By Hitler & the German officials denounced him !
Not only did Owens do great , he & another runner replaced 2 Jewish members (Marty Glickman &Sam Stoller)of the 4x100 race . This race was his 4th Gold Medal.... there is a historical footnote that Hitler had asked that "the Jew's not be allowed to run to save him any more embarrassment " - this has not been substantiated --but--Jesse Owens & Ralph Metcalf ran & helped to win another gold.

I thought it was a student protest, not buddhists in 1989.

Anyone else tired of these accusations that the Chinese are politicising the Olympics? Surely by constant accusations of this, it's actually being politicised by everyone else.
Anyway, highlights thus far:
* Cuba, Iraq, Afghanistan and North Korea getting cheered during the parade of the athletes, with Dubyuh sat right there.
* Brunei Darasalam being disqualified as they didn't get the paperwork submitted in time for their two athletes. So much for the Olympic spirit, eh?
* The Marshall Islands' clothing during the aforementioned parade - dude, headhunters!!!
* The Czech Republic winninhg the first Gold medal. Hey, that instantly unpoliticises things just a tad.
* The first athlete sent home for failing a drugs test being Greek. A bit of an embarassment.
* British humiliation starting earlier than expected, and being that bit more pathetic: Frankie Gavin was sent home for not making weight for the 60kg boxing (or, to put it another way, being a fat bastard). This is the same Frankie Gavin who stated he'd made weight before leaving for Beijing, so he was either lying or deluded.

It's not political only if you are an ally of the US. Like no city who hosts the Olympics tries to impress the world.
