You are at your computer when an Earthquake hits.

You immediately grab two things and hide under a table. There is then a white flash of light and the rumbling stops. You step crawl out from under the table and everything is gone. Not a single human left other that you. Not one building. Not a single tree. Not one blade of grass. The Earth is now nothing but dirt and water. What two items did you save?

Well, I see no need for anything to try to sustain my life with since there is only dirt and water, no animals or food to eat, so I'll take a .45 and a full clip and save myself the suffering. You can only live a little while without food, even if you found a source of fresh water you would die of starvation, which is a crappy way to go.
