There are some games posted on newgrounds, which are good and even make the frontpage, but they're incomplete.

Inside that game, they rub in your face "this feature is only available if you play from armorgames.com" with even an armorgames logo pestering you instead of the actual feature.

Two examples are here:

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/45 2123
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/44 6232

Now, I can imagine the makers of this game have their little deal with armorgames about advertising and getting money from it.

But they, if you want us to play the game at armorgames.com, put it there, don't put it on NG. The only thing this does is make a user see a 90% complete game that immediatly tells you to play it at armorgames.com instead, and if you didn't do it from the beginning, they put enough tempting things inside the game too to make you go to armorgames.com instead.

I've always had a good experience on newgrounds, but if there's something I hate, it's things that treat "consumers" like objects that must be pulled with their money or, in this case, ad-views, to certain places.

I have nothing against ads in the game. But I have something against this very obvious practice of annoying people who play the game at NG and make them go to armorgames.com instead.

If I want to play armorgames games, no problem I'll do it on armorgames then. If you post it to NG, please post the complete game or don't post it at all.

Is this what the free content of NG is about now?

What does NG themselves have to gain from hosting a game that only tells the player to go to a different website?

P.S. I first posted this in general. Please delete that one instead of this one... If it didn't already disappear 15 pages down anyways.

The reason they do that is to get users to go to there site...

Think of the game as an ad, and ad you dont have to pay for....

That's not exactly defending them... That's exactly my problem with it: is NG then a place to upload your AD to and distract users away to different websites? Is that even allowed at all?

It's more like a trial version of the game, an ad is the banner you see above the forums.

Even if a Flash contains only an ad for another website, it should be allowed. Ads with no substance get blammed. So as long as its a good ad it will make it through. Its up to the viewer to watch it anyways.

Newgrounds is open to anything. There shouldn't be the mentality that you submit things with "all or nothing". It just goes against the culture of NG.

Just think of the NG version as the full game and you get extra bonus material if you go to the author's site.

Not always. Have you seen some of the crap that passes judgement?

Everything by Everyone, right?

That is a good way to think of it. I am usually just happy to play a good game, and games from Armor Games are usually good.

Yeah they use it to attract people to their website. I know it's annoying, but usually, since the beginning of games like that you already know you're playing the demo version, so you can't complain when you have less features.

I'm sure they get money for doing so.
Also, the "amorgames"-games are beatable at NG, too. It's just that you get a little bonus if you go to armorgames and play it there.

Have you ever played a demo before?

The whole point is to entice you into going back to the sponsor website where you can get hit by all their ads. These games are usually almost complete and it costs you nothing to play the full version. Games of this nature can usally get the developers a few extra bucks and in turn make them aspire to increase the content.

It's a free game, get over it.
