I want the most versatile guitar available. One that can create a ton of tones and different sounds.
Any suggestions?

If it's lots of tones you're after you should check out a Line 6 Variax.
I dunno what they play like, but i think that's what you're looking for.

Might I suggest you get the AbstractPathologist guitar. It is made from human organs and contains popular sounds and tunes such as The Morgue, The Temple Of Shadows, The Cold And Dark Mire, and the most popular one, Inside The Rotting Carcass. Just tune it to hear these wonderful sounds! The color of it is black and blood red.

If you want a lot of different tones, get a decent, but cheap guitar and spend all your money on an amp. I've got a Line 6 Spider 3. It's got tons of options.

Fender Strat or a Tele is just about as versatile a guitar as you can get. Good for rock, blues, metal (Slipknot guitarist uses a tele), country, pop. Just decent guitars that haven't been pre-pidgeonholed.

Get a guitar but I say you find an amp first. Amps are usually the last thing on a person's mind. Remember your guitar is useless without an amp stupid. A Marshall amp is good.

Squier strat if you're starting out, maybe a Fender Stratocaster/Telecaster if you are more experienced.
You should get a multi-effects pedal like the Zoom G2.1u if you want to mix your sound up a bit :)

Ok.
First off, you're a fucking retard, ok, just want to get that out there.
Ok so the first question i pose to you is why you think this kid hasnt gotten an amp already?
Why do you think that because he wants a new guitar he needs to rush of and buy a new amp?
He was asking for a new guitar, now when somebody says a new guitar, it usually means they have one already have one and they concider it old and that they need a change, thus him saying he wants a new one, not what a good guitar for a starter would be, think about it.
"A guitar is useless without an amp."
Quite the opposite actually as I could still play my guitar even if i didnt own a amp but if I just owned a amp and not a guitar, well then all I'd have is a big plastic box that hasnt got anything plugged into to make a good sound, just a box that i know has good effects that i cant use, now what would be the point in that?
An amp is useless without the guitar, not the other way around, stupid.

a basic fender strat, while being best for classic rock/blues, is still really good for any style and you can get some kickass metal sounds out of it or really soft nice clean sounds. its very versatile

Well, if money is no object, I'd say go for the VG Stratocaster. If you want a mid-priced one, then probably any guitar with two tone knobs. But, you can get a really cheap one, buy a bunch of pedal, and just go crazy with your sound.

I have a sh*tty Fender Acoustic (I don't even know what kind) that I have been fooling around with for about two years now.

Depends on how much you have to spend, and what kind (Electric, Acoustic, Electric Acoustic) you want.

Yeah. But it's down to the amp that they use, the effect pedals and pick ups that make the sound aswell as the individual skill ; A Fender or a Tele is perty expensive .
