Ok so I have basically discovered (as I am a noob) a new kind on animation technique which works with FBF. I'm wondering if it is the usual for people but if it isn't I'd just like to share it with those whos willing to listen or is as good or perhaps less than good as myself. If this animation style I have discovered please tell me. Anyway,
Basically I choose a part of the body. Lets say the torso. I draw it with the pen tool on the layer and do the whole animation pretending I have the whole body on the animation except I'm only animating the body. When the animation is done as much as I can with that body part, I create a new layer for other body parts and sync it with each part to make a hopefully awesome movie. Is this what all of you guys do? I have no idea if I should continue doing this kind of style or not...? Help maybe?

I have previously done a technique similar to that, except I made all the layers at once...but that's a bit painstaking, I now prefer to just draw each part of the body separately, covert each one to a symbol, and then have them all in one layer....

Does that work for Naruto Styled animations as well or...... no?

Ok thanks for that. What kinds of animations to you use 'peice-by-peice'?

Well, the first method I mentioned, where I used many layers, I used when I did a quite bad stickman Flash...
The second method, with the symbols, I use for normal cartoon-like characters...I have no idea of how to animate anime, though...

Anime basically involves lots of layers, onion skin and patience. But stuff like naruto's done in teams, you won'y be able to do much on your own.

If you're doing Naruto at least you won't need to do real lip syncing.

you just discovered something that has been around since the creation of animation pretty much...yes that is the correct way to animate (for the most part)
usually in animation the eyes, mouth & arms are done separately (again, for the most part)
Congratulations! You just destroyed someone else's hard work! This Flash has been blammed.

i make the finished drawing, then dice up the limbs and put them all on a seperate layer so i can tween them, then i just animate the basic movement with tweening. when i'm satisfied with the timing i'll put a layer above them all and trace over all the tweening with fbf (because tweening limbs doesn't look too hot)
it's piece not peice

Wow!....That is alot of work.
So you Draw/Split to Layers/Tween/Then Frame by Frame.
:o
Do you have any finished products using this technique?

i don't have any complete projects using that technique, i've just recently started doing it that way. so far i've only used it for small character animations for games.
it's not really as much work as it sounds, i only fbf over the areas that don't match up right when they're tweened

I like to Frame-By-Frame as much as I can, without the use of any tricks. Generally if you want to animate in an anime style, forget piece-by-piece. You're gonna have to go all out and draw each and every frame separately.
Course, as it was already pointed out, you don't need to worry too much about lip-syncing, hehe.

Naruto, and well, anime in general, is all cel animated, meaning that it IS animated piece by piece, but with heavy planning. say if they were to animate a lion, they would use three layers, one for the mane, one for the body and one for the tail. get it?
generally, the bigger more important parts are animated first, like the body.

lol I'm going to try and do exactly that (the lion that is) but maybe a female lion... lol it would be interesting to see how it works out :D
