Has that ever happened to you? It happens to me at least once a week. I wake up and all I can do is blink and move my eye's, everything else is paralyzed. It is the most uncomfortable thing in the world and it takes about a solid five minuets before my limbs slowly start gaining mobilitly. Its like breaking out of ice, one limb at time. I fucking hate it.
Has this ever happened to you? Anyone know what could cause it?

Most of the time when this happens to my I'm sleeping on my stomach and it's very difficult to breathe. Probably because I'm still half-asleep and I don't have complete body function, aside from eyesight.
Yeah, I hate it too.

Yea, I know that feeling.
But it doesn't take 5 minutes before I can move again.
More like 5 seconds for me...

Ive done that but its not my whole body its just like a limb like my arm or something from sleeping on it and losing circulation.
first time it happened i was so afraid i couldnt move my arm i thought it was chopped off or something

That happens to me all the time. I wake up and think up moving, and then out of nowhere I can't move for about 30 seconds and then I get an adrenaline rush.

I used to get sleep paralysis all the time. It was kind of cool. Doesn't happen so much anymore. It's really not scary once you recognise it.

When I get that feeling, I just try to go back to sleep and forget about it. Hasn't worked at all, though.

Never happened but my entire arm has fallen asleep and i've been unable to even move my fingers even a little it scared the fuck out of me the first time. The pins and needles i get afterward are pretty unbearable as well. I sometimes change positions in sleep and cut the circulation off to my arm.

Your mind secretes a paralytic agent when you fall asleep to prevent you from thrashing and moving around in dreams.
Sometimes you wake up before it wears off, hence, the feeling of being awake but unable to move.
I've never experienecd this, but it sounds like it sucks.

I hate when that happens. Then sometimes, I can't open my eyes.

The Scariest thing about it, is not being able to talk. Trying to talk and not having your jaw move fucking sucks. You can't even hum all you can do is barley breathe. Once I snap out of it I usually shout "FUUCCK!" at the top of my lungs or something

Thanks man that helped out a lot. I don't get hallucinations but I do get the feeling of danger, definitely.

Happens to me, but like others said not for 5 minuets.
Just a few seconds.
I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they would greet me with cries of hate.

This happened to me once, but with me, I can kind of shift very very little, while stuck. I was able to shift and turn maybe like 10 degrees very slowly, but after, I just slipped of my bed (four feet off the ground by the way) and bashed my entire self against the ground. Right after impact, my arms and legs just started flailing around and I woke up my brother and parents by yelling "OH SHIT OOOOOHHH MY GOOOOD!!! RAAAAAAARRGGHH!!!!!!

It happened to me all the time when I would sleep on my back. Now it never happens to me anymore. But it may not be the reason for everyone.

It's never happened to me, but I've heard about it.
It has something to do with the chemicals in your brain that keep your body under control as you sleep, I know that much.

I recover quickly after sleeping some I'm usually not temporary paralyzed. Maybe I move really slow and stuff but I recover quick after that.

Sounds like a very scary thing to experience. I want to feel like that one day. And be scared out of my wits.
Send me a message. I promise to listen to whatever you have to say. You guys piss me off sometimes. That's ridiculous. It's not even funny.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like sleep paralysis. If it takes 5 minutes to get out of it, you should probably talk to a doctor or something. It happened to me once, but I had a hallucination with it, and the whole thing lasted maybe 5 - 10 seconds.

The only thing that is paralysis related when I wake up is that I can't get up from bed because my bed is so comfortable :)
