So I want to reduce the filesize of my music folder, so I thought I'd just convert my entire iTunes library to AAC. Anyway, I was wondering if it was possible to make it so when a file is converted to AAC the MP3 is automatically deleted (otherwise I'm essentially doubling what's on my HDD, then have to go back and manually delete all the double ups - which is going to be a waste of time, plus I simply don't have the space).

Secondly, is it possible to change the settings so the AAC is placed in the same folder as the MP3? I hate having iTunes automatically "organise" my music.

TY in advance.

you mean lossy to lossy surely? neither mp3 nor aac are lossless.

Is this even possible? Because I'm considering just doing it manually.

Also what's the big deal? AAC and MP3 sound the same to me, and the filesize is fairly drastically reduced.

OK, while I'm here, is there a program that will just reduce the filesizes of MP3's? That way I won't have to worry about organisation issues.

If you don't mind the degraded quality then it's fine I suppose. If iTunes doesn't convert well (i have never used itunes so i have no idea), try dBpoweramp, it's what I use to convert/rip music and it's wonderful.

Well, I'm using Audacity to decrease the file size of MP3s I'm using in a flash, and it's going pretty well, so you might consider that.
