Am I just uptight?

I have a friend who claims to have multiple phobias, and I get angry at her because she says it all the time.

I always figured phobias were Massive, irrational fears that would hinder every day life. There's a difference between hyperventilating(sp) and going into cardiac arrest upon seeing a needle, and being afraid of being stung by bloodwork.

is this really a big issue, or am I just antsy?

Some people are just scared shitless by things. Like I never understood how some people could go all apeshit over spiders. Some people get all woozy when they're up high in the sky looking down (afraid of heights.) Really it's all dependant upon the person. You might be afraid of clowns, and somebody may see it as childish, but blah.

The thing about phobias is that they're irrational. Even if it is something totally ridiculous, some people are scared to death of things you find in everyday life.

There is a difference between being afraid of something and having a phobia though. Some people just say they have a phobia to get attention or to exaggerate the fact that they don't like something.

Phobia's are very common to be expressed in degrees.

Some people just kinda cringe at the sight of something, like a needle for example.
Others hyperventilate and get the whole nine-yards of anxiety attacks.

Though, there is a fine line between them just being an emo raging idiot.

Yeah, she might have phobias, but do us all a favor and tell her to shut up before she fucking blogs about it.
