in Firered and it's level 37. I'm thinking about evolving it soon with a stone, but I want to know which evolution will be more rewarding. Sunstone=bellosom, leaf stone=Vileplume.

What are some pros and cons of both pokemon, and what is a good level to evolve the Gloom? Also, where can I buy these stones? Pokemon Firered btw, which is pretty much just blue or red, or yellow.

So any HELP would be greatly appreciated.

God knows, all I know is I just spammed it back in ruby/diamond, and it sometimes made vileplume confused (if you use it 2 times in a row maybe?)

I'd stick with Vileplume. He is a more powerful fighter, whereas Bellosum focuses on status moves like healing and poisoning.

what good does that do? Bellosom looks cuter, but so far google results yield forums where everyone says Vileplume is better because of its poison moves.

Petal Dance is the Grass-type variation of the move "Thrash". The pokemon will use the move either two or three times in a row, dealing 80 damage to a random enemy target (which is pretty good for a Grass-type move). You cannot cancel the attack once it starts. After using the move for two or three turns, the user then becomes confused.

God, I am ashamed of my knowlege of Pokemon...

Vileplume is better, and can you even get Bellosum on firered and leaf green..? I thought it was just a red/ble/green remake.

that's what I don't want. My powerful fighters, Charizard and Garydos don't have any status moves, all offensive attacks. I need another strategic pokemon to go with Kadabra.

And ok, where do I get the stones in the first place? And when is a good time to evolve? The gloom is levl 37 btw.

By level 44, Gloom has learned all the moves he gets. I highly recommend evolving him by level 54, because Bellosum learns Solarbeam at level 55. You'll need a sun stone to evolve into Bellosum, which IIRC you don't get until you unlock 4 5 and 6 islands.

I suggest this move set:
*Sunny Day [use a TM]
*Solarbeam [Bellosum learns at level 55]
*Moonlight [you should have by now]
*Stun Spore/Sleep Powder

Use your status move to cripple your opponent, then use Sunny Day, which eliminates having to spend one round absorbing sunlight for Solarbeam, and also increases the effect of Moonlight from %50 to %75. The status move should minimize enemy attacks while preparing Sunny Day and Moonlight. Then, when you're at the advantage, you can use the incredibly powerful Solarbeam every turn, given that Sunny Day is still in effect.

And IIRC stands for...? I'm 90% sure that I have unlocked all those islands. But I forgot how to get there. Haven't played the game in so long. Is there a port in a city somewhere?

Ok, awesome, I'll take that advice.

All right, thanks alot. What other moves does Gloom learn by level 44? The one I have right now is at 37. It has: Sleep powder, poison powder, Moon light, and acid. I think I'll evolve evolve it at 44.

Thanks alot, you pokemon expert you.

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly. If you are only at level 37, then you probably only have 1 2 and 3 islands. You don't get 4 5 and 6 until later. Also, the port is in Vermilian City, as circled below.

I'd get rid of poison powder. It's not as useful as Sleep Powder or Stun Spore. If you really want a poisoning move though, teach him Toxic. It deals damage every turn, but at an increasing rate. You get this TM by beating Koga, the gym leader of Fuchsia City [the one with the safari zone].

Gloom learns Moonlight at 35, then Petal Dance at 44. Petal Dance is the final move he learns. You should delete Acid in favor of it. Acid is not a powerful move.

Thanks alot, you pokemon expert you.

I'm blushing with both pride and shame.

Vileplume. And in Firered, if you haven't been able to get Johto Pokemon yet, you won't be able to evolve into Bellossom anyway until you do. Vileplume has the powerful Petal Dance which is a Grass equivelant of thrash. And of course Vileplume gets confused after using it. She also (let's call Vileplume a "she" alright?) has a lot of defense and HP. And sleep powder is great.

O, I have 1,2, and 3 islands. What do I have to do to get 4, 5, and 6? I've beaten all the gyms, I'm just training up for the Elite Four.

oh... I already got rid of stun spore and replaced it with Moonlight.

I beat him, but I might have already used the TM on my Arbok. But it might have just learned it naturally, not sure. Doesn't matter, I'm not very interested in poisining moves anyways.

Yes, I've always wanted to get rid of that move, but it was my only attacking move so I couldn't.

Thanks alot, you pokemon expert you.

Aw, it's nothing to be ashamed of. :)

Bellosom:
Level Move Learned Power Acc% Type Class
1 Mega Drain 40 100 Grass Special
1 Stun Spore -- 75 Grass Status
1 Sweet Scent -- 100 Normal Status
1 Sunny Day -- -- Fire Status
53 Leaf Storm 140 90 Grass Special

Vileplume:
Level Move Learned Power Acc% Type Class
1 Mega Drain 40 100 Grass Special
1 Poisonpowder -- 75 Poison Status
1 Stun Spore -- 75 Grass Status
1 Aromatherapy -- -- Grass Status
53 Petal Dance 90 100 Grass Special
65 Solarbeam 120 100 Grass Special

Move sets. They learn pretty much the same TM's, so if you want a attacker get Vileplume but ifyou want someone to use status attacks get bellosom.

I recommend you use a Vileplume till you get a better grass Pkmn... Like Executtor.

I usually go with this moveset: SleepPowder, Megadrain, PetalDance, StunSpore...
