For me, it'd be a toss up between Paint it Black by The Agony Scene, or Land of Confusion by In Flames.

How about you cool cats?

Psyclon Nine's cover of "You Know What You Are", originally by Ministry.

Can't beat that shit.

Bold statement. Not that it's not a good cover version.

There was no need. Anyone who doesn't know who did the originals, and I mean this with all due respect, deserves to be kicked in the head.

Biggest shocker all night.

Reel Big Fish - Take on Me
All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
Long Black Veil - DMB
Blue Monday - Orgy (yeah, I liked it, you wanna fight about it?)
Higher Ground - Red Hot Chili Peppers
You Really Got Me Now - Van Halen (w/ Diamond freaking Dave, bung)
Smooth Criminal - AAF

..ah fuck, now I can't think of any more either.

I don't like covers.

I especially dislike them when a band uses a cover to catapult them into mainstream instead of using their own ideas (i.e. Smooth Criminal by AAF).

Opeth - Remember Tomorrow is pretty good.

I think Mike Shinoda did a good job on remixing Enjoy The Silence ... if that counts as a cover.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Slayer

Well, maybe if they mixed the instrumental in this one with the vocals in the original, it would be great. I hate the vocals in the Slayer version, it doesn't go well, but I think they did a fairly good job at covering it.

I'd say the original is better, but this is still a decent cover.

Eh, I did it for the idiots. And those links are the covers, not the originals, just as an FYI.

By the way, I fucking worshipped your 'A Few Words on the Meaning of Life". Awesome stuff.

Don't forget Whiskey in the Jar. It was such a great cover, until it got me kicked off of Napster for downloading it. How in the blue blazes can Metallica threaten to sue for "stealing" a cover song, I ask you? Fuckin' Lars.

Other than some that have already been stated, the only really great cover I can think of is Cat Powers version of Satisfaction

Yeah man fuck Lars, anything that's ever went wrong with Metallica is his fault. James just doesn't have the balls to tell him no. And Whiskey in the Jar was definitely a good cover, but it was an irish folk song, not like an actual song.

Anything by Ten Masked Men is awesome. They take normal "pop" songs and put a nice death metal spin on it. Case in point, their cover of Baby One More Time. Hilarious. And awesome.
