How did you discover a music artist or band that is now your favorite?

I discovered my favorite band, Muse, when one of their songs (Thought of a Dying Atheist) was the theme song of my favorite Youtube show, Deus Ex Machina. I downloaded the song, loved it, and ended up buying the rest of the CD that that song is on, Absolution. I never turned back.

Lost-Chances sent me some of their songs through MSN and from then on, I've loved Radiohead and I've ended up buying most of their albums.

Well, I was playing Tony Hawk's Project 8, and this song came on that I liked. But I couldn't find it, so I played the whole list twice, took about an hour. Then I found out it was "This Job is killing me" by The Walkmen, I seached for it on Limewire. A completely different song was playing but I liked it. So I googled the lyrics and found out it was actually Tenley Town, its a common mistake to get those two songs mixed up.

Mine is KMFDM. I discovered them when I learnt about Columbine and how Eric Harris used to listen to them. They're great.

I downloaded the GH PC clone Frets On Fire, and a song pack for it, and on there was a song "King of Fools" by Edguy. Ever since then I've downloaded over 50 different power metal bands' discographies and bought many power metal albums. Although since then I've also been listening to other metal like Viking Metal, Folk Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal...

pffft, anything with lyrics can only be sub-epic.

truth. Most songs would be better without them.

Well, I discovered rock music while at a summer camp. Some guys were playing some RHCP, and I bought one of their CDs after the camp was finished. I went to my cousins house and noticed he had a few RHCP CDs, and a ton of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and other classic rock CDs and posters. So I went to Target, bought Dark Side of the Moon, and that's where I am now.

I was at circuit city, and i was looking for something to buy. I spotted something on the concerts rack. The cover was amazing. It turns out it was The White Stripes-Under Blackpool Lights. I had heard a lot about this band, and I do believe that Seven Nation Army was very popular at that time, so I bought it on a whim. The concert just blew me away. It was epic. So I decided to get all of their albums, and to this day, they're my favorite band!

I discovered Rammstein by watching some countdown of the "40 Freakiest concert moments."
Now they are currently my favorite band, and I own all of their albums.
I had never even heard of them. In America Rammstein is hardly known.

I constantly switch between Fav. Bands.
Right now it's !T.O.O.H.!
Avant-Garde Technical Deathgrind from The Czech Republic.

I heard they were similar to Gorguts (My Fav. band before them) from a friend.

Since Daft Punk are so popular, you could hear one of their hits pretty much anywhere. OS I guess I'd have to say I found Daft Punk through their sheer popularity.
