What does BBS mean? While I am at it, is there any other acronyms I should be knowligable about that is important to the BBS forums?

Read the rules, it says right there:

NOTE: We often refer to our forums as the NG BBS. The term BBS is an acronym for "Bulletin Board System", which is the traditional name for what most people now refer to as "forums".

If you come across any other unfamiliar acronyms or internet related expressions, you can use

BBS stands for Bulletin Board System, which if you didn't know tell me that you didn't read the BBS rules.
