Heath Ledger Hype Jul. 22nd, 2008 @ 02:24 AM Reply

I was bombarded with hate mail from 2 of my friends, who apparantly like Heath Ledger. one of them saw my status on Facebook which said "I have had it with Heath Ledger hype.'

then she posts on my wall acting tough and i try to explain to her my opinion but no, she has to be a bitch.

then later my other friend heard about it and she said his death was a tragedy.

heres the convo she and I had.

[00:11] slipknotfan8791: i dont hate him.
[00:12] slipknotfan8791: To me it's just another celebrity who od
[00:12] slipknotfan8791: OD'ed on drugs and died
[00:13] slipknotfan8791: Marilyn Monroe, Jimi hendrix, Anna Nicole Smith
[00:13] slipknotfan8791: wasn't like he was murdered
[00:13] slipknotfan8791: *shrug*
[00:16] slipknotfan8791: service is overloaded or offline
[00:16] slipknotfan8791: whoops
[00:31] xxxxxxxxxx: well he didnt kill himself on purpose
[00:31] xxxxxxxxxx: he accidently od'd
[00:31] slipknotfan8791: on drugs that werent perscribed to him
[00:31] xxxxxxxxxx: he was taking perscription pills and he didnt know they would harm him when combined
[00:32] xxxxxxxxxx: i understand what u are saying but it is still a tragedy
[00:32] slipknotfan8791: no
[00:32] slipknotfan8791: it was an accident.
[00:32] xxxxxxxxxx: yea
[00:32] xxxxxxxxxx: it was a tragedy
[00:32] slipknotfan8791: Thurmon Munson dying in a plane crash
[00:32] slipknotfan8791: THATS a tragedy
[00:32] xxxxxxxxxx: i cant deal with u and ur having no compassion towards others
[00:32] slipknotfan8791: a child getting hit by a speeding car.
[00:32] slipknotfan8791: THAT'S a tragedy
[00:32] xxxxxxxxxx: fuck u
[00:32] xxxxxxxxxx: dont im me anymore
[00:32] slipknotfan8791: this was an accident
[00:32] xxxxxxxxxx: ever
[00:33] xxxxxxxxxx: u bother me
[00:33] slipknotfan8791: im just saying his death was accidental.
[00:33] slipknotfan8791: sad, yes
[00:33] slipknotfan8791: I'm not denying that his death was sad.
[00:33] xxxxxxxxxx: please remove me from ur buddy list and ur phone and do not speak to me
[00:33] slipknotfan8791: dude. listen.
[00:33] xxxxxxxxxx: goodbye

Bottom line?

A child getting killed by a speedig car. That's a tragedy.

Someone dying of cancer. That's a tragedy.

Heath ledger's death was brought on by himself. I could care less about how talented he was, he abused drugs, and it killed him.

He left behind a 2 year old daughter who will need to live with the fact that his father ODed on drugs that werent perscribed to him. THAT'S the tragedy. Death by overdose would be an accident. NOT A FUCKING TRAGEDY. I'd tell my friends this but they're in their own little worlds about how the world works.

And that's all his death was. Another fucking Hollywood death. I don't know why everyone is making such a fuss. The only reason why the Anna Nicole Smith death was a big deal was that no one really knows if it was murder or suicide, or OD. The real tragedy THERE would be, her kid growing up with no mother.

Shes a senior in high school.

Apparantly she lacks the ability to debate in a mature conversation.

Like I said, she's in her own liberal artsy world.

I hate people like that. She didn't know him. Sure, anyone dying is sad but it doesn't make it a tragedy just because he's famous. It's a tragedy to people who knew him, family and friends etc.

Also ironic is the fact that if he was a rapper/rock artist/pop singer or whatever, everyone would blame him for taking those drugs on purpose but since he's a Hollywood heartthrob, he was the victim of the medicine and drugs.

The drugs WERE prescribed to him, dolt. Every pill in every tube that he had was prescribed to him by a doctor. The thing is, the combination of those drugs are what killed him. Most likely, it's the doctor's fault for not checking to see what other prescription medication he was on. It's just like Casey Calvert from Hawthorne Heights. His dentist didn't even think to ask what other prescription medication he might have been taking and prescribed him Vicodin. Just because he was a big Hollywood star you just assume he's some careless doped up arrogant asshole.

No what happened was he took drugs that were SIMILAR to the ones his docs told him to take.

See, if what you're saying is the case, then the doctors would be on trial right now. But they were cleared recently because apparantly Heath never took the perscribed drugs. I could be wrong.

But either way, drugs killed him, no matter who gave them to him.

The doctors in question had prescribed Ledger other meds. Not the pills that killed him.

Quoted from wikipedia

"Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine."[6][80] It also states definitively: "We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the ABUSE of prescription medications.

Uh, he abused prescription drugs. Obviously he was aware of it, how else would he do it?

What is there to be debated really?

Does it really need to be a god damn tragedy? He died and that's sad enough, what's even worse is the fact that you think you can just point and laugh at everyone who was affected by it.

To some people it was a tragedy to others like yourself it wasn't, but to conclude the death of a person and use it as if it was fact. So far you have no credible links to back up what you keep on spewing.

From all the links I have found they point to: there were both prescription and non prescription drugs at the scene it was the mixture that caused his death.

It doesn't matter if they were prescription or non prescription drugs. He abused them and faced the consequences.

Thats what ticked me off. That she made it an immature squabble.

And I don't hate Heath.

I don't like the fact the public is calling his death a tragedy "because he was such a talented actor".

I HATE hearing that. Idc of he upstaged Marlon Brando, I'm tired of hearing that reason why it was a tragedy.

mostly i hear it from the artsty people.

It's the state of the media and the world man...well, american culture mostly I guess.

We treat celebrities like their royalty (which is fucking scary to me considering how horribly screwed up some of these people are) everything is a tragedy. Anytime we aren't dealing with somebody dying of something at the age of 80 or whatever it's a tragedy, and even when they're dying naturally it's "brave last days" and shit like that.

Is it sad a talented individual who brought joy to people is gone? Absofuckinglutely. Can you discount that he did it to himself? Nope, no way. Heath Ledger made bad choices, his bad choices led to his death, and as the topic starter said, a young child grows up without their father, and not only that, grows up knowing their father really didn't need to die. Want tragedy? Bang right there.

Anna Nicole Smith was another great example of the celebrity hype shit. Anna Nicole Smith was a fucking porn star that hit the skids basically. High class porn stuff? Sure, but still a porn star hitting the skids. She dies, and the media suddenly acts like she was the second coming of Marilyn Munroe, and the worst part? PEOPLE BELIEVE THIS NONSENSE!!! Everybody forgets that she made her money and her fame by taking her clothes off and act like we've lost some kind of national treasure or something. Dumb.

So yeah, I'm right there with everybody who's said it's overrated. Heath Ledger had a hell of a lot of talent (it's evident in work like Brokeback Mountain and The Dark Knight) sadly he made some horrible choices that deprived him of what should have been a long and wonderful career, and even worse deprived a child of their father. Admire the work, but remember the cautionary tale of the man. The End. :)

Irony is if he was still alive, the Dark Knight would be far less popular.

You obviously know nothing about the situation. Heath Ledger OD'd on a prescription. He had those pills because of his insomnia. He had insomnia because of his role in the Dark Knight. So basically he was so devoted to his passion that he died. He wasn't just like any celebrity dieing in that case.

When the Oscar for best Supporting Oscar goes to the "deceased" Heath Ledger the room will darken and a spotlight will reveal a deranged Joker, thus proving my theory that Heath ledger staged his death to promote the Dark Knight.

Flawless.
