Have you ever turned off your console while saving a game?

The first time I did was when I was 11 and playing Kirby: AriRide and lost ALL my data on my GameCube memory card, which was well over 40+ hours of gameplay.

Well that, was the first time, the last time was last night!

I was on my PlayStation 2, jamming out on Expert mode for Guitar Hero III, and then I was eager to watch an episode of Metalocalypse, and I usually ungplug my PS2 when I'm done playing but what I did was (without thinking) stupidly rip my cord out of the wall while it was saving. I imidiately noticed I did this and powered-back up my PS2 to check the memory card, and all seemed well until I put the game disc back in and it said "No Data Has Been Found".

So there we go... I was replaying it back on Expert (luckily that mode gives you a ton of money so I could re-buy everything) and only got only to the guitart battle with Tom Morrello, life sometimes feels a bit rainy when it gets like this -_-.

I rented Spiderman 2, the save file corrupted my memory card to the point where it couln't even be used any more. I had to buy a new memory card which costed me $40!

Okay.

and then I was eager to watch an episode of Metalocalypse

First mistake.

and I usually ungplug my PS2 when I'm done playing

Why?

but what I did was (without thinking) stupidly rip my cord out of the wall while it was saving

couldn't you have left it on and changed the channel?

I imidiately noticed I did this and powered-back up my PS2 to check the memory card, and all seemed well until I put the game disc back in and it said "No Data Has Been Found".

My older brother has no fucking idea what curropted data means and what to do when it happens (turn it off if you get the message, then turn it back on, only if you have a gamecube) and the gamecube asked him if he wanted to delete all the data, yes he did.

And it was an almost complete game of Super Smash Brothers Melee.

This sort of thing happened to my cuz. He was smashing his memory card so much that day *sniff* good times...

And why couldn't you just flick from AV mode to normal TV mode? Alot easier...

And never buy those memory booster things which you put your card into and it gives it more space. Hehe, I'm just ranting, that thing erased all my data.

Oh well, lessons learned. Now I need to save my data, unplug my computer and watch some of The Bill. Oh noes....my data....

lolwut?
Also I think most of you guys are being absoultely retarded in this thread. The point was TURNING OFF your console while saving, not removing the card. Therefore, all these recommendations for DS's or 360's are really worthless

I once had Guitar Hero II data corrupted.
While it was saving, I quickly turned around because I heard my dog scratching at the door that leads to where I was playing. A wire got unhooked, and the data was lost.

I was able to reunlock all the songs though.

I'd like if more people would know that, and the whole reason why I unplug my PS2 when I'm done is because it clearly states to unplug it after long non-use in the instruction manuel.

It doesn't do anything if you don't unplug it. Even if it says to unplug it, it doesn't say rip out the cords like a retard.

Get it right, read the topic again, it clearly stated "without thinking" before that was stated.

I did this twice to my cousin when he was saving GTA3, the first time was an accident, the second was intentional because he was being a dick. Man he was pissed but I dont blame him because he was really far the second time.

Winning a argument on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win you're still retarded.

Only once, after falling asleep while in the Chao Garden of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I was trying to get a maxed out Hero Chao to become a baby again, and by the time I woke up I didn't know how much time had passed since it did.

I frantically began to exit, but noticed it saying "now saving" and unwittingly shut the console off to try and "prevent it" from doing so.

Oh shit.

Emblem data was saved, but my Chao were F-U-C-K-E-D, including my Chaos Chao.

I have since gotten the final 2 emblems, but my Chao Garden is still a repair in progress.
