Not sure what they're called but a lot of older consoles had disc drives that would require you to just press a button which would open the disc drive manually. As an example, a PS1.

Now the 3 consoles have discs drives that whirl the drive the tray out (Xbox 360) or let you push them in making them go in automatically (PS3 and Wii). It's nice and all but what happens if you break it? It's buggered and off to repair for a couple of weeks.

In fact, bring back a cartridge type media where all you did was push it in the slot. Without blowing in the cartridge for an hour of course. Are we that lazy to not open a disc tray?

Well, with the 360 you can push a button to open it. And how are you supposed to break a disc drvie where you just push the disc in?

Flash storage would be great -- durable, no moving parts, no worries about scratching it. Unfortunately they're just too expensive to produce compared to discs.

CM 590; Intel E8400; ASUS P5Q Pro; Mushkin DDR2-1066 4GB; Radeon HD4850; Hitachi 500GB; WinXP.

No idea, but it happened to mine. Or, in the process of happeingat least. Sometimes the drive refuses to come out, and I need to help it out by pushing it up. :/

My site is down... and it'll stay down until I do something about it... :3

The only way I know of is hitting the general area of where the drive is with excessive force.

Fuckin' eh. I loved being able to take games out of the gamecube while it was off. There's so much waiting now; I hardly ever change it. I just play what's in the machine.

I think I did to my Wii actually. I accidentally left the console on for a day and a half with a disk in it. Now It makes a whirring sound whenever I play a game.

haha, where 40mb is considered huge.

You know, if you do the math, it would take a few thousand cartridges to hold MGS4.

Eh....not actual cartridges. Sorry should of explained further.

Something like a cartridge or tape but using today's technology. Blu ray discs were going to use a cartridge format, I would imagine similar to the PSP's UMD discs where the disc is in a plastic casing.

what about USBs, you can get 32gb ones that are no bigger than a AA battery, i reckon they would be better than a disc

That will never work. Cartridges have very limited memory space. Why do you think Square diteched Nintendo back in the mi-90's?

"I'd also like to point out that if the game didn't have anything to do with Sonic at all, you'd say it's pretty good."
