NG Chat vs. Forums

What do you think will happen to the forums when the NG chat system is put into effect? Will chat make the forums redundant? Or will the chat system be just a massive hype that turns out to be a complete flop?

I think the forums will still be used, but will lose quite a few users to the chat system. It's a hell of alot easier to talk to people instantly, and you'll be able to get to know other users alot easier. I'm looking foward to it.

I will actually use the chat - it'll be less populated than the BBS, and most people who will use it will be forum regs, so you're immediately removing all of the seven year olds who use these forums. If they try to enter, after about five minutes of them being annoying, they'll probably just get kicked. Hopefully, it isn't as lenient as the BBS. The BBS is way too fair on those kinds of people.

I think it's fair to say he merely typed that to get us all to check the chat page to make sure. And I fell for it, too. ;_;

It sure as hell didn't when we had chat before. Comparing the forums to a fucking chat room is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard. On the BBS we comment on a certain topic or help people with their problems (to some extent), while on a chat room you exchange a/s/l's and have lame e-sex all day.

Exactly. Forums and chat rooms are two different things. And anyone who is even remotely trying to use this forum like a chat room shouldn't be here in the first place, and won't be soon enough.

If I really wanted to talk to someone on Newgrounds without a lot of annoying trolling going on, I'd talk to them on MSN/AIM. I'd stick to the forums, you can't create multiple discussions really on the NG Chat.

Well, judging by how things were before the old chat room left us, I doubt much will change in terms of forum activity. Personally, though, I can't wait for the new chat room! I don't come to the forums all too often, and I would love to be able chat with users instantly, rather than the occasional post. So, Newgrounds, expect to see me around the chat quite regularly, whenever they decide it's ready!

when the chat was up in the old days, almost nobody used it. though the sudden influx of new members since the retirement of the old chat might change some numbers. i wouldn't count any impact on the BBS though.

There was no difference when chat existed before, and Paltalk Chat isn't very busy either so you can't even say they are in competition for users.

I think that if NG chat were to FINALLY COME UP, then nothing significant will happen to the forums. On the forums you can ask a question and at least a few people will pay little enough attention to actually comment.

On NG chat, [if it will be what I think it is] there will be a whole lot of poeple communicating with just their own group, leaving one person to comment on you IF YOU'RE LUCKY.

So, in my predictions, nothing too much will happen to the forums.

A lot of the immature users will migrate to the chat, I hope that there is an option for people to create their own rooms, and to boot people from the chat.
