Vista is XP with not as great resource management. 64-bit Vista if you don't want to change your OS later on, is all. 32-bit XP is still fine.

If you have XP, stick with it. Vista is just horrible.

I like Vista. The customization abilities are great, and they allow it to be run on just about any PC. And since support is being withdrawn for XP, you're going to need to upgrade.
There is a war going on in you're mind. People and ideas all competing for you're thoughts. And if you're thinking, you're winning.

But support for Windows XP ends in 2014.

I've just got Vista onto my computer and i recommend that you format your HDD and get a new GFX card before doing so so that you can run Aero and so vista runs as quickly as possible. IMO it runs a lot faster than XP used to, but it might just be down to the formatting. I prefer the look of Vista to XP as well. Be sure to get ultimate or business.

It depends on your luck. I've never had any problems with Vista and I love. However, other people say it sucks horrible monkey ballz because they've had bad encounters. I just like it because of the way it looks and it's customization. Get the home premium.

If Vista is just be something to keep Microsoft customers pleased, then so be it. The new OS will probably be 8456804760987436098 times better and it'll finally make all the ignorant Mac users shut the hell up about how Macs are superior.

I like Vista, just get your hands on an OEM version so you dont have to pay the $700 for the ultimate version.
