Yes, but because it's North Carolina, there's a good chance that it will receive the three fifths majority, so the result is the same. I'm not sure it makes a difference, though. To my knowledge, no laws are being changed and the chance of North Carolina allowing civil unions or gay marriage before the federal government forces them is next to nothing.

I forgot to add that I mean the chances are next to nothing whether they have the amendment or not. It's like changing the tires of a car that has no engine.

The ban even being up for discussion shows backward progress.

I certainly hope all the bans get struck down just like all the sodomy laws did.

But each church should be free to choose whether they perform gay marriage or not.

That's my opinion on the issue as well, but nobody ever seems to go for it.

Then why not ask the people here what they think about letting each church decide?

Do any of you (or did you when you were in the closet) feel extremely lonely and afraid? I just feel like I'll never find love, but I feel handicapped by my sense of what people will think of me if I come out.

No I did not feel as such. It's only normal to feel like this though. You realy should do what you feel to be best. Dont judge yourself by what others may think of you and what they expect of you. Do what you want to do and to hell with those who stand in your way. Okay maybe not that far but if they realy think badly of you afterward then they have completely forgotten all that you have done with them irelivant of your sexual oriantation. It's a liberating thing to come out and most people you know and are friends with will be fine with it. In regard to feeling as if you will never find love; you just need to let people know that your gay first otherwise you may never know if others are.

I'm considering coming out to my friends first, and then taking it from there, just so that I'll soon have the opportunity to find someone. Thank you for the advice.

That's what I'm here for.

Coming out to friends is quite often the best idea. Coming out to some of your lady friends before any others is also a good lauching pad as it were.

I don't really have any lady friends that I'm closer with than I am with my guy friends.

I've got my eyes on a few people, but no one I know personally.

I'm just unable to find my self attracted to my friends. It's just too awkward I guess.

My high school reunion in July was pretty awkward. That and I came out to some of the people there that day.

I might some day, but I really don't know them that well.

Was it awkward before? Or did your coming out experience make it more awkward for you?

I am Canadian.

Also, I would (probably) only enlist if my country were actually being invaded.

I've always considered DADT to be an essential step in the transition towards gay acceptance in the military.

Next step: Gay sex used as part of military discipline.

Excellent. Even still, I don't think I'd ever really enlist unless America, or one of it's close allies (my buddies in the UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, ect.) was being invaded. However, that's unlikely, because the days of conventional warfare are over.

Careful when you say "close allies" or you might end up defending Isreal against a horde of enemies in the final battle of World War III.

However, that's unlikely, because the days of conventional warfare are over.

You may have been led to believe that the wars of the future will be fought with lasers and robots, and maybe even nukes, but if recent wars are any indication, it's still all about guns and tanks and bombs and jets and missiles, so you'll be in for quite a long bloodbath.

I was leaning more toward nukes. Every conventional currently being fought involves at least one undeveloped country, meaning a poor-ass country that can make terrorist attacks, but can be no means afford anything close to an invasion.\

WW3 won't happen, but for a nuclear stand off and some silence.
