rethought my opinion about the controllable turret - it's not a bad idea actually. A user can switch from having it manually controlled to having it pilot control.

What I thought you meant was having it just manually controlled, which would then put pressure on the user to have it fire at all times of the game, which then would make it a lot harder for him to upgrade other turrets, and so on.

Ice turret- freezes obviously, and if shot the guy shatters, if not then he unfreezes after a while and carries on.

a chicken launcher
that launches a crazy coked up chicken that attacks enemies at random and does a portion of damage to them

A banana peel cannon that shoot a banana peel, and an enemy slips on and has to wait a while to get up

a reverse cananon that shoots a box, and anything within the box "retreats" or goes the other direction rendering them useless

a rouge cananon that makes whoever it hits part of your team for a bit before it dies

a blockade cannon that creates a barricade for a select amount of time to stop enemies in the path from advancing

a pit cananon that creates a pit that gathers up enemies for a select amount of time

a tornado cannon that shoots a whirlwind that spins enemies off the screen

enough ideas for you?

Recovery Cannon: Aims at you!

Within a certain radius, it will point at your own units and fire, but when it hits them, health is recovered to the unit it hits.

Kamakazie Turret: WOOT!

It is more powerful with a longer range and faster rate of fire when it has lower health.

pit cannon: I generally don't like the "stop enemies for a short while" concept.
tornado cannon: ok that's interesting, but if I will make that, it won't "spin em off the edge of the screen", but it may hurl them back a few hundred pixels or something.
recovery cannon: I already said that the game does not allow the user to create units of his own, only defend with turrets.

By "Units" I meant other turrets. But if they don't have health...

but by the box idea i mean

It shoots __word here___ over a area, and the the enemies in that area turn their course and backtrack

Why not try something more original and let them be hurt? Possibly give enemy units a 1 in 4 chance (or whatever) of stopping and attacking to turrets. Because, to be honest, those tower defence games are getting samey. These new turret types will make it a hell of a lot better, but maybe some more originality will really push it up there.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but what about a frenzy turret or something like that. Like, if you hit a unit with it, it gets an adrenaline rush or something (gets faster, stronger), goes apeshit and starts attacking closest units to him (might be you as well as the enemy) for a period of time before dying.

I think something like that would be cool. I don't know.

an addition to your triple fireball and your sniper fireball. make a omega fireball cannon has great damage medium range fires big fireball lights enemy units on fire.

gene simmons cannon from kiss. enemys pass by the cannon and it spills blood on them slowing them down or poising them or blowing them up with awsome rock

nailgun cannon fires nails atr fast rate

liguid nitrogen gun. pretty much ice gun but cooler name or it could light enemys on fire with a cold flame weird but i odnt think its been done before

eagle gun. fires eagle that go and peck the enemy for a short time then disappear after sset time

This is just a basic DT engine.
I want to make the engine and release it before making anything revolutionary.

I will expand on the basics, and make some cool stuff after the basics - I was thinking of being able to make your own units, and instead of only having a losing option (base gets destroyed), you can destroy the opponent's base, and have missions and all that shit...

so in that case, turrets having health wouldn't be a bad idea at all. But not now...

frenzy turret: ...what? I guess this turret shoots your own units... but like I said, no user units yet.

nailgun turret: I was thinking of something similar: sniper turret. Obviously a nails wouldn't do much damage to huge beasts and stuff. But a sniper turret is the same idea, just w/ bullets that hurt and stuff :P
liguid nitrogen gun: that's kinda cool. I'll see what I can do.
eagle gun: no lol. no animation-shooting turrets :P

Yeah, all this originality does make it stand out. All the other ones I see have "weak turret, medium turret, powerful turret, godly turret" and that's it.

im gald you like the controllable turret, i have another idea:

instead of a barrier turret, you could have a mound turret that places a hill or stack

that slows down or kills enimies!

How about putting in Super Cannons?

SuperSonic Blaster (at max upgrade it deals low damage to all units on the map, has a special ability which once activated send out a massive sonic wave, causing a 50% chance for all enemy units to be Stunned for 5 second along with a large chunk of damage to units nearby [Ability can only be activated once a minute])

Mag Cannon (a large cannon that can fire a long way away, its bullets fire at 50% the speed of light meaning the 1 Tonne Bullet has an Epic amount of damage potential, the cannon take 10 seconds to reload but will 1 shot most non-boss enemies.)

MineField Cannon
The Minefield cannon is a relativly small cannon that lays down mines all around it.
Special ability: The minefield cannon can fire a Super mine anywhere on the map, the super mine deal average to high damage to 5 enemies who cross it.

Deamon Cannon
This cannon does not level up normally, it levels up by eating creatures on the map with its special ability: Consume Foe. It deals close range damage with its claws, its appearance would be a Deamon half stuck in the earth up to its Knees.

monkey mode? lol. Nah, I want to avoid psycological turret shit, like mind-control and stuff like that. It's something to consider for an expansion game though.

mound turret: well, there's already the snow turret that slows down the enemies, so I don't see how this would bring anything unique to the game.

You could just make it so that the Cannon fires automatically once every 6 seconds with a 25% chance of a 1 second stun on the entire map. put a limit on how many you can make like 2 or three.

Yeah kinda, the reload is its main factor, and it would cost a lot of money / resources.

Well the mines would take a few seconds to be replaced, say to beging with its 3secs, then every level you reduce the recharge by 0.15 seconds.

I just don't like the idea of a single turret affecting all the units on the field, regardless of how much it will cost.

Yeah kinda, the reload is its main factor, and it would cost a lot of money / resources.

Well, I already am making a sniper cannon :P
and obviously, snipers take awhile to reload, so I guess same here...

howbout some melee turrets? yknow.. like close range but high damage

like swords or something spinning..

chainsaw turret? idk.

if you do get into passive you should make one that lets you manually fire them at one point... for a boss or sumfin. but i guess if you have nuke theres no point.

and have you thought of traps?
