Almost every civilization incorporated slavery at some point. Though most that did were founded towards the beginning of human history, and didn't have better means of acquiring large amounts of labor. The U.S. could have implemented better ways of creating a labor force upon its founding, due to technology levels at the time.

Also, to my knowledge, no nation prior to that time had captured and enslaved people living so far beyond its borders. I can imagine how that must seem more aggressive and generally asshole-ish, compared to, say, the enslavement of the Israelites by the Egyptians.

Every two months or so I see this exact same topic come up, word for word and just thinking about it I can only think of 2 reasons why someone would start such a topic.

1. They actually think people won't notice that they've copied it straight from myspace and for some reason they believe that It will generate a discussion
