Go nuts and create like a poll or something to see an accurate representation of what the people would want as a feature or the top few voted features. That's what I would do.

Stick, basic mannequin, add details, proper shape and form, features, erase basic lines, clothing, retrace.

A Friend's list. Yea, that does seem a little myspace-ish, but if you will do it, heres just one tip,
DO NOT MAKE A "TOP 8/12/WHATEVER" FRIENDS. Don't even let people organize the friends list into most important. Make it from when they got requested.

I could see the negatives in this, but I guess it could have some benefeits, especially knowing when people make news post.

Oh and I always had a question, is there already a way to check our posts on other users' pages or is that still in the works (or an obsolete idea altogether?) Many a times, I will post on multiple user's pages and forget to check back for a reply. And also, does the PM system have a way of checking "sent" messages?

I'm going to skip over the rest of my hyperbolic, drawn-out post and ask "what practical purpose would the friends system serve?"

Well here's one example... A newcomer to the site watches something by Zekey. He doesn't know anything about NG, doesn't know anything about Zekey... But if Zekey actually used the friends system (and who knows if he would), that newcomer could get turned on to guys like Bug and RTIL... A whole sub-community within NG that isn't obvious to someone who doesn't browse the site regularly.

It's a lot different from Myspace because on Myspace, everyone is pretty much a pile of shit and you don't care who their friends are. But when you find an interesting artist on NG, you are curious to know who they associate themselves with and what other talented artists might be doing similar stuff, or stuff that's just as cool. etc.

This is the game JohnnyUtah and I have been working on.

Corky52 is a hardcore user and has made some helpful/interesting posts. Some of these include a list of NG clubs he is a part of and a Newgrounds Exercise Program. His latest post outlines some of the guides he has written, as well as his friends and goals here on NG. It was a fun read and kinda inspiring. :)

Ha, he just joined the Barracks! Congrats on the mention Corky52, we love you!

Speaking of friends, for a long time now we've had a completed front-end of a FRIENDS system for NG. It's been sitting on the backburner, awaiting prioritization for the more complicated back-end code. I've always had my fears that people would see it as a step towards NG becoming a bunch of MySpace vomit, but overall we all like the idea of being able to link up to eachother. Right now a user page can become a bit of a dead-end, but with a friends list, there could be more paths to branch off into. What does everyone else think? Does the idea disgust you, or do you agree that at the end of the day, it would be a welcome feature?

Tom, that sounds like the coolest idea ever. Please go as fast as you can to make this a reality. You have my blessing and permission to start this project. Good luck!

Yeah, DeadDuck is doing a good job illustrating of what I was talking about here on this page, along with others.

Also JimmyDallas, I had been thinking about possible spam in the forums, but it would be easier to moderate that spam rather than an author's page full of 200 "add me" comments. There's more than one man who can deal with problems on the BBS but only one person can moderate their own blog.

If you do the friends thing, please make it unobtrusive. In someways I agree it would be cool, but even facebook takes it a little too far. I'd like the ability to add friends and perhaps be able to message them all or notify them of something, but I wouldn't want friend updates, feeds, or that list to be even above favorites on my user page. Maybe a box on the left hand side thats inconspicous and below stats.

if the friends system was implemented that might just be another chance for people to try to be the best with the most friends, plus after a while the novelty would wear off and nobody would care any more :/ but it would allow people to see who everyone likes :3

It's an interesting idea. I think if you made users able to add friends to their site, it might might help give exposure to their friends in an artistic sense.

I think that what a lot of people hate about Myspace friend lists is that a lot of people only seem to care about acquiring as many friends as possible --maybe for bragging rights or something. Newgrounds artists would probably use this to spread the word about their own work... They'd at least have a legitimate purpose for acquiring lots of friends. I can't really say whether it would be a good thing or a bad thing or whether it would be shallow or not.... I'd definitely try to use something like that to my advantage. You'd probably have a little from column A and a little from column B.

The friends list could be a great thing. I agree on the idea that if you find an interesting author, you will want to find out who they associate with. This could lead to unknown talented artist getting more views and more fans. I say you should implement it.

Just because a site has or plans to have a friends list does not mean they are or ever will be anything like myspace or facebook. I do have both, but rarely do I use them for anything other than responding to PM's I get from people I know.

Having a friends list here would be much different. I have to agree; the userpage is pretty much a dead end. If I want to see if one of my friends has posted an update, I have to find their name via search or type the name in the address bar. Having a friends list is a good way to check up on some updates or to see if they're on.

I say go for it.

I don't think a friend's feature is needed. I view my co-author list as my friends list, and someone's user page is only a dead end if they have nothing submitted. If you add friends, then more people will be less inclined to actually submit material.

When ever i go to someone's page, i click on some of their flash. If i liked it, and they have co-authors, i will click on their pages and view their other flash. I have seen lots of interesting flash that gets overlooked this way.

I like the idea of a Friend's Feature. We already have a CONTACT list for PM's so why not have a Friend's feature. It's just bumping up from what you already had.

I'm totally in for these. PM-blasting would be an awesome way to get views and listens. I'd totally love an opportunity like that. Although if you were to implement those features, that management system is a must- I, for example, would love to get notifications about new flashes and tunes from my favourite artists- but blog posts, not so much. etc, you know this

I think you need to seriously consider these features. These kinds of features = :D , no exeptions
