i understand what you mean.
but i usually dont exchange cigs, give or take with anyone.

for several reasons:
1. cigs are more expensive now, because of the govt strangling the cig companies with high taxation
2. personally i only like Marlboro reds, while many others like Newports, Camels, and Blacks
3. i dampen my filter with spit to block more tar from going in my system, which can turn people away if they wanted a deuce.

chances are you wouldnt, because noone calls them fags in the states, just in Great Britain, and possibly in other areas.

It's just being polite. When people ask you if they can borrow a cigarette, they really mean they are going to take a cigarette from you, use your lighter, then stand for 5 minutes next to you blowing smoke into your face, they will never reimburse you in any way. The nice ones might end up giving you a cigarette back, but that is such a pittance in my opinion. It's like using the bathroom at somebodies house, then showing up the next day with a 10 squares of toilet paper. But usually you won't get anything in return, so I'd prefer it if people would just say, "Can I have a cigarette?" or "I'm asking you right now if I can take your things that you paid for even though I will probably never see you again."
