I am actually going to quit. At the minute I only smoke around 20-30 on a night out but I'm eventually going to just stop completley. Hopefully next weekend... Maybe only save the cigarettes for a special ocassion...

For someone constantly engulfed in flames, are you sure you can quit safely?

People usually smoke cigarettes for pose value. My friend smoked for a few months before quitting because he thought it was cool. He gave me a cigarette and the taste was horrible.

It's nice. It's one of the ways I indulge and treat myself. I plan to quit before I get lung cancer, but I don't want to quit atm, and I've been doing it for like half a decade, on and off but mostly on.
I also like having an excuse to leave clubs. I feel fine when I've not had a cigarette, but when I've had a cigarette I feel awesome; from my pov the addiction to coffee is more profound, in that you feel shit until you've had a coffee.
I can be testy too, but I've noticed that I'm far less testy as a smoker than as a non-smoker.

Smokers are helping pay for your taxes, so give them a break.

It's addicting, that's the main problem with cigarettes, people who try smoking are usually the people who are forced into doing it. Odds are you get pressured into smoking, and next thing you know your smoking a pack a day.
Everything I see is just a image of my thoughts "Always looking for a better day..."

So none of us are allowed to discuss anything because you believe the thread was started by a troll?

Yeah I hate that shit. Who cares what the motives of the OP were; we argue about this shit all the time on the BBS so it's not like everyone on the OP's side is trolling.

What I'm saying is you can't possibly support the final conclusion without knowing what's really going on in the study.
The study finished up a week ago. they got the results three days ago and told me what happened yesterday. Is that clear enough for you?
Yep.
I'll tell anyone I want to to sit their ass down if they act like an uppity little fucking prick.
I'd say that's going a bit far, they just challenged your sourceless, baseless claims after you whined about them being ignored.
Sorry, nope. Nicotine slows the aging process once you get the negative side effects of it and its medium (generally tobacco) out of the way. It's a pretty big benefit.
"Sorry, nope"? Followed by, once again, a blurb of the end results that you have no background information on?
So you're telling me that the statistical significance was huge, huh? For a drug study they must have set their alpha verrrry low. Do you know what they set it at? What the final value was? What kind of analysis they used? How about the control factor. "Sorry, nope," seems to imply that that's not an issue... their experiment had 100% control then? No discussed third variables? Nothing at all? They conveyed this information in "the bit" they told you too, huh?
I'm willing to believe nicotine on its own is beneficial in some way. In fact, there's already been studies done on that if I recall correctly. However your opening point was that "cigarettes are good for you," but you leave out the clause that it's only possible if you're willing to suffer injections of antioxidants.
Did they impress upon you the concentrations of said injections? Made clear how commercially available such concentrations were? It's a pretty moot point if the injections are 500 bucks a pop, huh?
Please PM me with the article when / if it becomes available.Right-o.
I look forward to it.

People smoke because it is their choice to do so. If they want to they should be able to enjoy a butt without people jumping down their throat about lighting up. Yes, its bad for you but I ask you what isn't bad for you in today's world. What with fast food and chemicals with names so long one can even fathom the correct pronounciation. I used to smoke but I quit because I couldn't afford them. But I'll indulge every so often because I enjoy having one with a drink.
I also live with smokers and all of my friends are smokers and I realize that standing around them while they smoke is taking some time off of my lifespan but I can sympathize with them because I used to smoke. I feel for them, smokers have been kicked out of almost public place because of the smoking ban. If this had happened to any other grouping of people I'm sure there would be hell to pay.

I couldn't agree less. It is the stupidest thing anyone can do to themselves. It serves no purpose except when people think it makes them badass. Well, people who are like this i just have to say, the next cigarette you pull out you may think your bad ass, but just realize how unhealthy smoking is for you. My uncle got lung cancer and died from smoking, and he was only 53 years old. Im really sure you dont want to die at the age of 53, or deal with the pain in lung cancer. Next time you decide to smoke, think of what i am saying, and also, think of the people around you you can be affecting from the smoke.
If you dont think you're awesome, then you fucking suck!

If you don't know why people actually smoke then don't post in a topic you know absolutely nothing about.

there are way too much people being happy that there are cigarettes. the cigarette producing industry makes too much money and they are paying much taxes, so that the state doesn't really want to do something really helpful. in my land and many other in europe you may not smoke in restaurants and bars anymore, but of course that doesn't help the nonsmokers. the state also may raise the taxes ( and that means the prices) and it won't help.
it is important that there isn't just tobacco in a cigarette( if they even mix it into these new cigarettes). things like tar, nicotine, cyanide and other very toxic gases make a cigarette bad and, in the end, deadly. when tobacco was made up for smoking it, there weren't any of these things in it.
so, i'd say it's hard to get cigarettes out of society, because some think it's cool to smoke and you mustn't forget that cigarettes are addictive.
ORLY?

That's something only a non-smoker would say. You can't just smoke one cigarette and then be smoking a pack a day the next, that's rather idiotic. You were never forced into smoking, your friends didn't stick the cigarette into your mouth and tell you "I'M GONNA KEEP IT THERE TILL YOU BREATHE IN YOU DIPSHIT" and after he's taken a blow of it he's like a nicotine wreck after a week.

Ever since my brother who just turned 18 started smoking, I can smell it from 50 feet away. I don't mind the smell but it makes it so I can barely breath. 3 of my 4 grandparents died of lung cancer from smoking, and he isn't smart enough to realize that he has a high chance of getting lung cancer if he smokes until he is atleast 50 years old (when 2 of my grandparents quit, both died). And the reason why my brother is smoking is because...we'll, he didn't have a reason when I asked him. Oh, and whats even worse he smokes Virginia Slims.
Fuck you.

It's funny/sad how a topic can go from a pretty intelligent conversation to flame wars.
