"The idea for it comes from the show"

So you don't need to make a text/stolen bits of movies movie to tell us.

I mean some kind of Uber Anime freak could only come out with such Genius that is that Genryu's blade DVD flash.

Haha so many tards in this thread ( including the starter).

DUUUUUUUDE its just that he shows how much genryu looks like that one Episode of Kenshin.

If its a joke, then its pretty funny, if not, then its not really convincing.

What garbage.

1. What the hell is that manga?

2. That wasn't episode 6 of Kenshin. That was a movie.

3. Oh my god! The two scenes have the same sword sheath pull and suspenseful stance!! THEY MUST BE COPIED!! I mean, it's not like we haven't seen that stuff a MILLION OTHER TIMES!!

Somebody tell me, is this the permanent curse of achieving success? Some nutless sack of shit trying to bring you down? We can already tell by his poorly drawn hand that he couldn't draw like Hurst if his life depended on it, so I guess he's just trying to look 'cool' by being a retard. Well good job pal, you've achieved being a retard, but I don't know about the cool part!

Oh, and if I sound mad....don't think that. I just find it pathetic.

Oh:

Kenshin: Reflection (No it's not Episode 6, it's a MOVIE) was completed in the year 2002.

The original Genryu's blade was completed in 2001.

*Sigh*

I wrote a review, I might as well post it here.

"The movie itself isn't that bad -- kind of bizarre, and the music was obnoxious, as was the crazed ranting about goatsex, but that's not really the point I wish to address right now...

The concept I wish to address is the alleged question of the integrity of the Genryu series, and whether or not the content was traced.

Now, all we really do see in attack against Genryu is a parallel between one segment of the movie one scene from a popular anime series. This appeals to the radically minded - they tend to be very obsessed with that which they can immediately percieve. Percieve a similarity, call it a rip off. However... one needs to bear in mind that this should be viewed from a producer's standpoint, not a viewer's standpoint.

It has been artistically and psychologically proven that certain angles of viewing a scene will either enhance or weaken certain mental/emotional aspects of a scene. A 3/4 view is more dynamic, a side view has the appearance of being 'frozen' or 'standing still', a front view is more 'personal'. Therefor, if one is to be a successful artist, one must realize that not every single possible camera angle is realistically one that would be used. So we see that there are actually many limits on angles and viewpoints here.

Next, we must understand that certain actions are universally used as a nonverbal means of communicating feeling and intent. If I put my hand on my gun holster, it means I feel threatened or feel I may be needing self-defense. Certainly, it would be absolutley insane for one film maker to sue another film-maker if two completely different movies showed the main character from a side view, looking ahead, with his hand on his gun holster. It's a universal signal, and with the number of movies with guns out there, I imagine that certain snippits might appear almost exactly the same between one and the other.

Now bear in mind that, even moreso than typical Western style animation, anime tends to be very homogenous (IE: they all look relatively similar, to a degree). Does it not make sense that, in the context of battle, using non-verbal communication cues such as the unsheathing of a blade where the enemy can see it, in a style that in and of itself tends to be similar to other cartoons of its kind, with only a few possible angles appropriate for the mood the author wanted to portray, that we would see many occurances of this kind between animes? I certainly believe so. Give me enough time, I could probably build 'evidence' to suggest outrageous claims like ".hack//SIGN ripped off Neon Genesis Evangelion!" or "Inuyasha ripped off Sailor Moon!"

All you have really done is shown that the anime animation style looks relatively similar between two different animes, especially when they are both in the context of combat. That may be enough for most people, but I, for one, remain completely unswayed. Please, if you're going to try and convince people, focus less on goatsex and more on empirical evidence.

Thank you for your time."

Please, people, don't be so quick to make snap judgements next time...

The thing that gets me around is that this guy has nothing better to do than worry what someone else animated. I mean wouldn’t it have been simpler to just post a thread about this and link us to a clip of the anime and to the flash in question? I think you need a hobby my friend.

Last time I checked noone ever came down on rotoscoping. I mean just look at those stick movies that do the same thing. Not only do people not attack the artist but more often than not they praise the work.

So the movie has similar scenes to another anime.
So? They're 'similar', and there is alot of sword fighting in animes.

I'm rather surprised at this. If the copycat thing was true, I would have been told my profile pic is a rip off Neo (Matrix) at least too mnay times.

Well, make your own choice I suppose.

I hate accusing people of larceny, especially GRAND larceny (Genryu's Blade is a masterpiece, despite its "iffy" script).

With no proof of any kind to back me up on this case, I have no choice but to type that Genryu is in no way stolen as there is no proof that the submitter is not the original animator.

This brings us to a question regarding some animations on Newgrounds;

"I Love Egg" series has some suspiscion as the Contact E-Mail does not match the Official Site's E-Mail.

There are probably more out there. But that is all I know about it.

All I know is that when I watched it aabout two years ago on Shockanime.com,it was called Genyu's Blade. If you listen to the talking,he calls him Genyu, not Genryu. Also,he took out the subtitles. Those would've given him away as a thief, too.
There will be no Genyu sequel. If there was gonna be,it'd already have been out on Shockanime.com.

Oh,I happen to be talking about the original that's currently on the front page. Not this new obvious impostor that you seem to be talking about.

well I guess people should just wait until the next one and see if it has a little more originality to it. Atleast thats what i plan to do, to me its ok to be heavily influenced by one thing or another at ONE point, but the key is to eventually go off and build something all your own from the knowledge you learned. That being said I give him the benefit of a doubt on this first attempt but i expect something more from the second one.
I mean if he just regurgitates old anime's then yeah i guess its good as long as people dont notice, but you sort of start to lose respect among other artists and you become like the puff daddy of flash you just resample other peoples shit and slap on a different title and claim it as your own.
