Yet I love to make music on the school computers. How would I continue the joy at home. Please list some good, free audio making programmes.
If you know how trackers and tracking works, Open Modplug Tracker. It supports many sample formats (heck, it can import ANY file as a sample... useful for chiptunes) and VST(i) plugins.
COCKS FOR PRESIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENT
when i started out, i used fl studios free version. its by far not the best. you cant save, so you have to finish a song without closing out. but on the plus side, it IS free...
renoise - a great tracker, easy to use, etc etc. it cost oney but the demo is fully functional except you cant render to .wav and no asio support.
chip tune
Hmmm, I think I'll try the fl studios one first, then I'll try to pinch the school's ejay disc. By the way, wat does everyone think of ejay?
thnks i want to start making music but i didn't know with what program start... thnks again

not for free you can't
I'd say REAPER... i haven't used it but I've seen it and it looks pretty good. it supports samples and VSTs and stuff.

I'm in a similar pickle, except I'm looking for MIDI programs, specifically.
you are probably not funny
I would go for Fruity Loops 8 and Reason for sequencing and Sound Forge for editing.

Well, if you're looking for a program that can create MIDI files, then you can maybe try Finale NotePad. Or if you wanted, you can give Reaper a try, which is . It isn't 100% free, the "demo" is fully functional, and acts the same as if you purchase it. You can buy the non-commercial version for $50, which is a pretty good deal compared to some stuff. You can work with MIDI, amoung all other things.

I'm pretty sure the topic is about free audio software. FL Studio 8, Reason and Sound Forge are not free.
