true but MGS3 seems to have the least relevance. you can actually get along with the whole MGS story without 3 where its really hard to do without 1.

Look up MGS1 cutscenes on Youtube and just watch those. They;ll bring you up to speed on the story. Or just read the plots for each game on Wikipedia. They go into enough detail for you to understand.

i just play mgs3 and the first two metal gear games which came with mgs3. then i read everything i missed from the other games.

I know I'm a nerd so I read up on the backstory for all the games, even the MSX titles. It's easy enough to understand once you get your head around SPOILER

I still don't really understand what Solidus was doing...
