I went through a stage where I did all my drawing with blue bic pens. There is no shame in it at all. What you might try doing that could help you is experimenting with pressure to create lighter lines, that way textures, like in your figure's clothing, don't detract from the overall drawing. It's hard to tell what's goin on in your drawing when all the lines are the same thickness.
Bic pens are great, because like someone mentioned above, they are always available, and they force you to think before you act, because it's permanant ink. They are awesome to practice with.
