you will never get anywhere as an artist if you continue to draw and paint abstractly.

anyone can do "abstract", but a real artist needs to know a thing or two about realism, and that is a fact. every artist in human history started realistically, than developed their own style. no one will hire you for any job than involves art if you cant draw a human figure, or animal, or nature.
i never said i couldnt
i choose to do wat i do now because realism was WAAAAY to boring to me
i am well aware of wat you are saying. i paint as a hobby and to pass the time
i dont plan to make it my career
if you have ever seen an actual pollack painting in real life. there are an insane amount of layers that make it difficult. take that same painting and compare it to one of his early paintings called cotton pickers. they are completely different in the sence that one is realistic and one is abstract. but at the same time you will notice that there are similarities between the two

well i guess if its more of a hobby to you, and you dont really care about increasing your skill i cant really grill you for that. your your own person, do whatever you want.
you shouldnt grill me even if it was my career choice
you havnt seen any of my other work or any examples of "realistic" work
ive seen your work and it is very good and im sure you have spent years honing your skills
i have actually really started getting into art this year. for wat ive done i feel its an accomplishment. i use my art as a medium for my ideas of the world. many of these ideas cant be portrayed y painting a farm or landscape. even if i did paint that, one can still make a mountain side there own by using there own style. one could say that all paintings are abstract because they never look EXACTLY like what its supposed to be depicting. im sure you think im just another one of those 14 year olds on newgrounds hoo dont know a shit about anything and draw there little remakes of anime. im not, and i actually do no my shit. and i even state this was done during one 40 minute math class. i no this is shit, i just wanted to no wat people thought bout it because i think its pretty interesting looking. i find it sad that you have to justify yourself by grilling a doodle
I will continue to row my fake canoe
well i wasnt grilling your doodle, its an alright doodle. i was grilling the fact that you called yourself an abstract artist. see, ive seen a lot of people calling themselves artists, post up abstract art, and not know anything about realism or the real world around them. it just angers me when random people like that put color and lines together and think its great. now i dont think you are a stupid kid, i understand what you are saying and i did not mean to offend you.
also im a kid too you know, im 15 and have only been painting for about a year and a half.
its ok. i cant draw for shit and im aware of it. but i can paint. i looked at your page and you are very good. wen i paint i use heavy base acrylic. wat many people do not realize about pollack is that he usually had an image underneath his splatters and splashes(if you havnt figured out already, he is one of my favorite artists). i went to a show sunday at the jewish museum in NYC. it was all about "action painters" like Gorky, Pollack, and Da Kooning. I have made landscapes that are actually very similar to your mountain painting. i just cant draw for shit, especially cant shade with pencil. but give me a paintbrush and a tube of white and any other color and im good. and im 15 as well
i was focusing more about the dont no jack shit than the age.

jeez umree...let him draw whatever he wants however he feels like. drawing realism as the first step to becoming a good artist is complete bullshit. first draw what comes natural to you so you can gain more skill at drawing, then practice on the skills that you dont necessarily enjoy.
and compl33tbull, if you want, you can post your doodles here
people seem to be giving critiques more over there.

ok, ill cya later.
Not bad.Don't forget that there are people who draw much worser then you.But yes your drawing suck and you know it.Sow i recommend you to practice more, this is how i have been drawing may be like two years ago,but now i draw much better just keep on drawing when you have nothing to do(at school or somewhere else)and you will see the progress.

What the fuck are you talking about?!?! Abstract takes talent. I guess a "real artist" like yourself doesn't have the creativity to make abstract art.

" You need a grip on reality before you can lose it " I Suppose he means that to fully realize the potential of abstract art, one must first realize the importance of realism
Why do people even bother posting things they think is shit? If you yourself don't like it, chances are no one else will either. Especially if it is a quick, crappy doodle on lined paper produced during class. Srsly.
because sometimes people waqnt critisism constructive or agressive it can still help

Your pictures fine, however, dubbing your art 'abstract' is a stupid way to get pretentious people to like your art. See this picture? its abstract. I can has money now?

That is true. You do need some sort of a talent for drawing realism when drawing abstract art, but seriously, saying anybody can do abstract art is bull shit and anybody that says that is even more bull shit. *cough**cough* UMREE.
