I always think of a dark, pessimistic, technology-driven world. At least that's what was on my mind when I wrote my industrial song. I don't know, but usually the heavy rythm section of the songs does kind of remind me of some factory or a similar place.

clanks and pings, heavy reverb on metallic sounds such as an octave lowered high hat or snare, i think of mechanical things with a continuous rhythm

The picture my fancy usually creates when I hear the word "industrial"... Very dark sky, post-apocalyptic scenery, no humans visible, just rusty machines doing everything loudly, in rhythm, perfectly.
