my ps2 broke, help!

so, i was setting up mah ps2, and i plugged in the power cord, shortly thereafter realizing that it was the wrong cord; it was the power for my laptop. i unplugged it and plugged the right one in, but now when i press the power button the "on" light just goes green for a second or two and then reverts back to red. it doesn;t actually turn on. it seems like i might have shorted out the power by using a cord with higher voltage. can anyone suggest how to fix this or maybe suggest what i should do?

I fix alot of consles it depends if its flat take it to someone or send it to the sony company if you have a fat one ten you just messed up the coils it hapend to me before so open it carfully you see all theise coils and cercits if you see on the mother bored a glue like structiore it the melting from a cercit just remove it carfully and dont mess it up as it is then scrue every thing up and try it

What happened is that the PS2 got fried from high voltage. The PS3 requires more voltage and might be able to use your laptop cable. Not to mention, more watts are used when it is turned off than a Wii turned on.

Yeah, I agree. You should buy a new one. You're in luck: the PS2s aren't that expensive anymore. When I bought mine in Malaysia 3 years ago, its price was above RM 900 (in dollars, that would be about half).

I think this sorta thing happened to me when i was trying to fix my comp..

I forgot to turn it off when i opened it up and i was about to remove one of the jumper cables from the hard drive, and i accidentally touched something and it gave me a small shock and powered off

It wouldnt turn back on

About 3 hours later it worked fine and im on it now =D

I would buy a new one if it doesnt work though, dont bother with repairs
