I've always been wondering this, does the position of your 360 (horizontal or vertical) have its own pros and cons?

I've had my 360 (premium) since September of last year and have always had it horizontal, because this leaves both holed sides ventilation. I've only had to send it in once because of a faulty laser and another time later because of the RROD.

So please NG, share your knowledge on this.

Horizontal for me. They told me the same ventilation stuff when I bought it.

I have mine horizontal. It fell over twice, one from a friend who kicked a large rubber ball at it, and the second from my dad tripping on the power cord.

I've had mine for about a month, and it's been vertical since i bought it, and the only problems i've had are a couple of random slow points/short freezes during dvds and one small freeze during devil may cry 4. is it better to have it horizontal?

I have mine vertical because there is far more surface area and with that it will cool faster / more. the only problem i have with vert is that it gets knocked over often... but ive never had to send in my elete.

I have it lying on its side, I seem to remember reading that that's more effective at keeping your xbox alive for some reason or other.

More important, however, is to keep it in well ventilated, out of TV cupboards for example.

Horizontal

It won't fit in my T.V. "table" furniture piece, so I lay it down flat.

Horizontal is better, as it fits in my small room. Plus it won't fall over, and it's easier to insert DVD's.

Vertical, and one of the few people that have it that way too.

It is in a position and in a stand so that it wont be knocked over (off the ground). If you notice you have to main vents on each side of your 360 and if you have it on its side you're blocking one side of your ventilation.

Horizontal, my tiny room would mean it constantly getting knocked over if it were vertical and I seem to remember it being mentioned that it prevents overheating and disc-scratching when kept horizontal.

Who are you talking to?

I rather have it horizontal because that seems safer (so I doesn't fall over).

But having it vertical seems like it'd be cooler. More surface area is exposed to air and when you have it horizontal, the ground would absorb the heat and end up heating the Xbox more.

Horizontal, only as I hear rumors of more discs being scratched this way.

Vertical mainly because I have a Wii next to it and I need the room.

I have a stand so it won't fall over.

Ah fuck. I can't believe you've done this.

I've always had mine horizontal, if it gets knocked over (when vertical) while a game is in there then you're really screwed.

WEhen you put it in the horizontal position, it will make a cluttering noise after alot of use, thats because theres an "imperfection" (such as a scratch on the side) on the disk that's playing, and on really rare occasions, if you move the xbox360 a little, it will ruin yur system. The xbox 360 was made perfectly for the vertical position, and everyone I know, whoshouse I have been to or something, that has also had it in the horizontal position, had the 3 rings of death.

I however have never had trouble with it, just make sure it's not where it tips of of a ledge, well ventilated area, and it's not easily tippable, and you'll be fine for probably a good 3-4 years.

I have hardwood floor, I keep it standing up, kinda in plain view, out in the open, in front of my television *cough cough** 40" sony full HD *cough cough*. And i'm good to go.

I've read that Vertically can cause disk scratches so I would go for a Horizontal.
